Chinese media is circulating a video clip showing a bear trainer being knocked to the ground by a black bear during a performance in front of the public at Hangzhou Safari Park (China).
The entire incident was captured on camera, causing widespread panic. The event occurred during an animal behavior demonstration. At the time, two groups were performing an interactive act with animals in front of a large audience.

A trainer grasps the bear's front paws as it stands upright, maneuvering a balancing skateboard across the stage. Then, food is held high to attract the animal's attention, prompting it to perform a spinning motion on the skateboard.
However, the performance quickly turned into a nightmare when a bear unexpectedly lunged at the trainer standing at the edge of the performance area and attacked him. A nearby colleague immediately rushed to the rescue, trying to use a plastic chair to ward off the bear.
Shortly afterward, another officer approached, attempting to pull the bear away but quickly retreated. Another officer brought in a basketball hoop, continuing to try and scare the animal away, before an officer with a large pole stepped in to subdue the bear.
Eventually, the bear was brought under control and removed from the performance area. Following the incident, Hangzhou Safari Park confirmed that no injuries were reported, neither to the trainer nor the bear. However, the attack gave the visitors present a scare.

According to the park, the trainer was carrying a large bag of apples and carrots. This is believed to have triggered the animal's reaction.
A park representative stated, “At 3:50 PM on December 6th, an incident occurred during the animal behavior demonstration when a black bear attempted to snatch food from its trainer. No one was injured, but our response on the spot was inadequate, resulting in a negative experience for visitors. We sincerely apologize for this.”
Immediately afterward, the park temporarily suspended the black bear show, provided care and monitored the animals involved to ensure animal welfare, and conducted a comprehensive review of shortcomings and strengthened management and emergency response capabilities.
The park also expressed its gratitude to the visitors who have shown interest and support for the work over the past period.
Asian black bears inhabit many areas of China and are known for their strength, agility, and keen hunting instincts. In the wild, they are typically solitary, relying heavily on their climbing abilities and keen sense of smell for survival.
