Students from Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School (Hac Thanh Ward) visit the school's traditional exhibition room.
Visiting the traditional exhibition room at Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School (Hac Thanh Ward), we were quite impressed with the spacious and modern display space and the scientific and organized arrangement of images, artifacts, and documents. First, there was a statue of President Ho Chi Minh placed neatly and respectfully in the center of the room; then came documents and pictures about the school's history and development, with rich content. Next were the awards and honors bestowed upon individuals and groups of the school; and photos of school leaders throughout history, arranged chronologically, easy to view and remember.
Teacher Vuong Dinh Son, Vice Principal of Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School, enthusiastically shared: "The school's traditional room displays and preserves many images and documents from the early years of the school's establishment to the present day. Since its opening, the traditional room has always been a popular destination attracting many teachers and students to visit and learn. The images and historical documents of the school through various periods, respectfully displayed in the traditional room, have helped generations of staff, teachers, and students understand the school's development and the contributions of previous generations that have helped the school grow. From there, each staff member, teacher, and student has a deeper understanding of their responsibility in preserving and promoting the school's good values and enhancing their sense of responsibility in training and studying to continue the school's fine traditions."
Each medal, certificate, or photograph proudly displayed in the school's tradition room contains vivid stories and significant contributions from previous generations to the school's development. This is both a source of pride and motivation for students – the younger generation – to strive harder in their studies and personal development. Nguyen Huu Bach, a student in class 8A at Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School, shared: "Whenever we have time or during History class, my classmates and I are guided by our teachers to visit the tradition room for a tour and learning experience. Through these lessons, we learn about the school's history, its formation and development, the generations of leaders and teachers throughout the years, and the achievements the school has attained over the years... From this, we are even more proud of the school's glorious tradition and grateful to the generations of teachers and students who came before us."
Given that 97% of the students are from the Thai ethnic minority, the traditional house at Thuong Xuan Ethnic Boarding Junior High School displays many products related to the traditions of the Thai ethnic group, as well as paintings and photographs of the school's leaders throughout history, and numerous certificates and awards for teachers and students. Ms. Cam Thi Hoan, the school principal, said: "The school's traditional house is a stilt house donated by parents during the relocation process in 2000. After the relocation, the school renovated it and turned it into a traditional house for teachers and students to visit and learn about. The traditional house displays many artifacts familiar to the daily life of the Thai ethnic people, such as looms, plows, gongs, wood-burning stoves, traditional costumes, etc. Through this, students not only have the opportunity to interact, exchange knowledge, and enhance their awareness of preserving and cherishing the traditional beauty of their ethnic group, but also strive to study well to be worthy of the achievements that generations of teachers and students of the school have worked hard to build."
The construction of traditional rooms and houses in schools is essential. These serve as places to preserve history, honor achievements, educate on ethics, and foster pride in students. Therefore, in recent years, along with improving the quality of teaching and learning, many schools in the province have focused on building traditional rooms and houses, actively collecting historical images, documents, and artifacts for display and use by teachers and students. Furthermore, to maximize the effectiveness of these traditional rooms and houses, many schools have integrated them into the History subject, bringing students to study in these rooms and houses and organizing visits and learning activities there. This helps students gain a deeper understanding of the school's culture and history, enhancing their awareness in learning and training, and contributing to the school's continued development.
