In addition to improved transportation connectivity, this "mega airport" will offer attractive business opportunities and job prospects for both residents and businesses.

What preparations has Dong Nai made and is currently making? In an interview with Tuoi Tre newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Kim Long, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, affirmed: "The Long Thanh airport project is a key national project, ranking among the top 16 most anticipated airport projects in the world . This is not only a modern airport, but also a strategic leverage, a breakthrough resource, and a symbol of Dong Nai's international integration in this new development phase..."

Several solutions to attract investment to the Long Thanh airport area.

According to Mr. Kim Long, Dong Nai is developing various solutions to create a consistent strategy: not only attracting businesses, but also building a foundation for businesses to grow and thrive in the province.

Accordingly, the province is simultaneously implementing three key tasks: developing satellite cities; forming large-scale service and logistics centers; and creating an attractive and highly competitive investment ecosystem that must be an appealing destination for domestic and international investors.

In addition, the locality is also urgently implementing foundational projects for the aviation-logistics ecosystem according to the development plan of satellite urban systems around Long Thanh airport, such as an airport city, aviation industrial zone, free trade zone, and airline operations center.

"In particular, Dong Nai is studying the formation of a free trade zone associated with Long Thanh Airport, covering an area of over 8,500 hectares and integrating four functional areas: manufacturing, logistics, finance - trade - services, and research, innovation - digital economy . The total investment is estimated at least around 16 billion USD," Mr. Long shared.

Regarding the free trade zone, architect Ngo Viet Nam Son stated that Dong Nai has a particular strength: the largest airport in the country and one of the largest in the Asian region. The free trade zone itself will be specifically linked to the airport and Phuoc An port, and can also leverage cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City to connect with the Thi Vai - Cai Mep - Can Gio port cluster to develop logistics...

Mr. Son also believes that the development of the free trade zone will contribute to the improvement of the multimodal infrastructure system including roads, highways, waterways, air transport, and metro lines. Beyond just trade and goods exchange, this free trade zone will also promote urban development and tourism in the entire region. "I think success is certain," Mr. Son said.

Preparing high-quality human resources.

To prepare a high-quality workforce for the operation of the airport, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province recently issued a plan titled "Training and developing local human resources to serve Long Thanh Airport in the period 2024 - 2026, with a vision to 2030 in the province".

According to the Department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province, seven airlines recently sought to recruit 4,000 personnel for vacancies at Long Thanh airport. The Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, organized a recruitment drive that attracted over 9,478 applicants, with Dong Nai province accounting for approximately 63% of the applicants, and the remainder from neighboring provinces and cities.

According to the Provincial Department of Education and Training, airlines are currently accepting applications, recruiting, and providing training and skill development for specific job positions (training for skills certificates as regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority).

"Currently, the department is connecting educational institutions and aviation companies to sign agreements and cooperate in ordering training for high-quality human resources for Long Thanh Airport. The training is linked to the actual needs of businesses and the development orientation of the airport economic zone."

Specifically, we will expand international cooperation and form education and training complexes linked to industrial parks, free trade zones, airports, etc.," said Mr. Do Dang Bao Linh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training.

Forecasting that the Long Thanh airport's operation will bring many positive changes to business and transportation activities, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Province Import-Export Association (Director of Nai House Co., Ltd.), analyzed that the planned ring roads and expressways all lead to Long Thanh airport, so freight transport businesses will certainly reduce costs significantly in the near future.

According to him, if businesses in industrial zones currently have to travel long distances and deal with traffic congestion when transporting goods to and from Ho Chi Minh City and going through customs procedures, then having an airport, warehouse, and port in the Long Thanh and Nhon Trach areas will significantly reduce costs for businesses and speed up goods handling procedures.

"With Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province recently accelerating the construction of the Cat Lai Bridge, Dong Nai 2 Bridge, and Phu My 2 Bridge, businesses in these two areas will find it much more convenient to transport goods back and forth. Simultaneously, commercial and service activities in the Long Thanh airport area will attract a large workforce," Mr. Tuan said.

Preparations are underway to launch three industrial parks covering an area of over 2,200 hectares.

The People's Committee of Dong Nai province announced that, to take advantage of Long Thanh airport and ports in the region, the province is preparing to launch three industrial parks covering an area of over 2,200 hectares with a total investment of more than 22,000 billion VND.

These include the Bau Can - Tan Hiep Industrial Park (phase 1) with a scale of 1,000 hectares, the Long Duc 3 Industrial Park with a scale of 244.5 hectares, and the Xuan Que - Song Nhan Industrial Park (phase 1) with a scale of 1,000 hectares. These three industrial parks were established to attract large investors, taking advantage of transportation connections to Long Thanh Airport and Phuoc An Port, Cai Mep Ha Port (Ho Chi Minh City).

In this area, Dong Nai province will develop strategic logistics and service clusters such as the Southern Long Thanh Airport Logistics Center located in the Bau Can - Tan Hiep Industrial Park; the Northeast Long Thanh Airport Logistics Center located in the Xuan Que - Song Nhan Industrial Park; the Phuoc An Logistics Center, etc.

Dong Nai province continues to maintain its role as the leading industrial province in the country with 81 industrial parks and 1 high-tech park planned with an area of over 39,000 hectares, and 63 industrial clusters with an area of more than 3,700 hectares.

Industrial and logistics development is expected to experience the strongest growth, driven by the advantage of vast industrial land reserves and numerous industrial parks available for lease at competitive prices in the North; while the South faces limitations in land for industrial parks and slow progress in establishing new ones.

In addition, Dong Nai has a comprehensive transportation infrastructure system with all five modes of transport (road, air, rail, sea, and inland waterway).

Notably, the Long Thanh International Airport and 10 expressways spanning nearly 400km will help reduce logistics costs and increase the competitiveness of businesses. New infrastructure projects such as the Ma Da Bridge connecting Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc (formerly) will facilitate travel and trade between the regions.
