Overcoming the sun, conquering the rain.
In Dien Dien commune, where floodwaters surrounded the area, four houses were completely destroyed and twelve others were partially damaged. Following the Prime Minister's launch of the "Quang Trung Campaign," the local authorities promptly implemented measures. To date, construction has begun on the four destroyed houses, and repairs are underway for the damaged houses according to the households' plans.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy's house (Nam 3 village, Dien Dien commune) was built while the mud was still not dry. The small road leading to her house still has standing water and debris left behind after the flood. Despite these difficult conditions, the construction of a new home for her family did not stop. The house, with an area of over 40 square meters, includes a living room, bedroom, prayer room, and a flood-resistant attic. Construction costs were covered by government support and a portion of the family's own funds.
For the past few days, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has been busy mixing mortar to help the construction workers, and preparing doors, iron bars, and other salvageable materials for the new house. Even though her shirt is drenched in sweat, she always wears a bright smile as she watches her sturdy house gradually take shape.
"Having a house to shelter us from the rain and sun is a huge encouragement for our family right now. Although we still face many difficulties, once we have a stable place to live, we will try our best to work hard," Thuy shared.

Not only in Dien Dien, but dozens of houses destroyed by floods are being rebuilt with the sweat, money, and solidarity of the people. Cadres, soldiers of the armed forces, union members, youth, and the people are working together, some contributing labor, others contributing resources, sharing the difficulties.
Despite the continuing rain, officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Zone 2 - Dien Khanh (Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command) are still setting up tents to build a house for Ms. Le Thi Tuyet's family (Thuy Tu residential area, Nam Nha Trang ward). The floods caused her family's single-story house to be submerged under more than 3 meters of water and collapse, with many household items completely damaged…
Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Kien, Commander of the Defense Command of Area 2 - Dien Khanh, said that the unit has deployed 20 officers, soldiers, and militia members to participate in building houses for the people. Currently, the houses have completed the foundations, erected reinforced concrete columns, and built brick walls... according to the design. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, all officers and soldiers are making efforts to overcome obstacles and are determined to fulfill their assigned tasks, ensuring the construction progresses on schedule.
Contribute your time and resources.

The family of Ms. Le Thi Tuyet and her son, Le Van Quoc (Nam Nha Trang ward), is in very difficult circumstances. Ms. Tuyet is frequently ill and requires long-term hospital treatment. Mr. Quoc has an unstable job. The two women's single-story house is located at the back of a hillside, with the front facing the river, making it susceptible to rapid flooding. During the recent flood, Ms. Tuyet and her son were rescued and taken to safety by the rescue forces.
Returning home after the flood, her house had collapsed, leaving only the walls and broken bricks and tiles scattered on the ground. She wept uncontrollably, not knowing where she would live… When she received support from the local authorities and officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Zone 2 - Dien Khanh to build a new, sturdy house, Ms. Le Thi Tuyet couldn't hide her emotion. She said, "My family is happier than winning the lottery."
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Nha Trang Ward, said that based on house designs provided by the Department of Construction, the local authorities coordinated and agreed with the family to select and adjust the design accordingly. Ms. Le Thi Tuyet's house was newly built to withstand historical flood levels, ensuring its durability against natural disasters such as storms and floods. The construction costs exceeded the allocated support, so the local authorities mobilized additional social resources. Fortunately, this initiative received support and contributions from businesses and philanthropists. To date, the total estimated cost for building this house is approximately 350 million VND.
For over a week now, every day, 10 police officers and youth union members from Dien Dien commune have been present at the home of Ms. Nguyen Thi My Chau (Tay 4 village) to help build her new house. Each person has a task: the men shovel sand and cement to mix mortar and concrete, while the women stack bricks and clear away materials. Under the harsh, dry sun after the flood, they work diligently and meticulously, as if it were their own family's work.

Ms. Le Hoang Nhat Thu, a Youth Union official from Dien Dien commune, is busily moving bricks onto the scaffolding to prepare them for the wall construction workers. Her shirt is soaked with sweat, but her face shows no sign of fatigue. Ms. Thu said that without financial support, the Youth Union members are contributing their labor. Young people are healthy and don't mind hard work. "We witnessed many families lose their homes and belongings due to the floods, and it was heartbreaking. We only hope that the construction and repair of houses for the affected families will be completed soon so they can have a place to live. With Tet (Lunar New Year) approaching, they can reunite with their children and grandchildren…"
During the recent floods, 89 houses in Khanh Hoa province collapsed or were destroyed, and 294 houses were severely damaged, seriously affecting the lives of the affected households. According to the plan, Khanh Hoa province will hold an inauguration ceremony and hand over the houses to the people before January 15, 2026.
The "Quang Trung Campaign" in Khanh Hoa province is not simply an activity to mitigate the consequences of natural disasters, but also a vivid testament to the power of humanity. Through willpower, solidarity, and responsibility to the community, "human strength" has been gradually overcoming "the power of nature," continuing to write a story of compassion after the devastating floods.
