Secure the border

“The blood and bones of many generations have been shed to safeguard the nation's borders. Following in the footsteps of our forefathers, over the years, the Border Guard Force of Hue City has continuously overcome all difficulties and hardships, building a peaceful , friendly, stable, cooperative, and developing border, worthy of being the core, specialized force in managing and protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security in the new situation,” shared Colonel Dang Ngoc Hieu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Border Guard Force of Hue City.

With that sense of responsibility and spirit, in 2025, the Party Committee and Command of the Hue City Border Guard directed units on both border lines to regularly organize patrols and control of the sea area and conduct comprehensive patrols of the border line and national boundary markers under their management. At the same time, they strengthened coordination with the opposing border protection forces, organized bilateral patrols, and inspected border line and national boundary marker signs. Border guards tirelessly patrolled every corner of the border, with nearly 550 patrols involving almost 4,000 officers and soldiers. As a result, coastal sections, border lines, national boundary markers, and boundary posts were inspected and maintained in their original state.

One of the important tasks that the city's Border Guard Force has performed well is disaster prevention and control, and search and rescue. During the prolonged floods in late October and early November, border guard officers and soldiers were among the core forces, always present on the front lines, shoulder to shoulder with local authorities, and a pillar of support for the people. For example, the soldiers of Quang Nham Border Guard Post, A Dot Border Gate Border Guard Post, and Hong Van Border Gate Border Guard Post braved the rain to clear landslides and reopen roads; they shared their food and clothing, received advances from their units, and found ways to string ropes across rising, fast-flowing streams to rescue and ensure that households isolated by the floods did not go hungry.

Following the directives of the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command of the city, in 2025, units along the two border lines deployed nearly 6,000 officers and soldiers/260 vehicles to participate in coordinating with local authorities, functional forces, and the people in the area to overcome the consequences of storms and strong winds; repair erosion of seawalls, extinguish 8 fires/15 hectares of forest, and collect more than 242 tons of crude oil clumps/11.4 km of coastline, quickly "restoring" stability and ensuring a safe living and production environment for the people.

Building trust

It's winter now, but the border villages are warmed by the immeasurable kindness and affection of the Border Guard Force. In early December, Colonel Hoang Minh Hung, Commander, and Lieutenant Colonel Le Hong Tuyen, Deputy Political Commissar of the City Border Guard Force, along with their comrades, marched to the border to organize the "Warmth of Winter" program, donating hundreds of gift packages including food, essential supplies, and warm blankets to people in difficult circumstances in A Luoi 4 commune.

During this time, the "Warmth of Winter" program was also organized by units along the two border guard lines for disadvantaged people and students in border areas, providing thousands of practical gifts and encouragement. To ensure the continued sustainability and effectiveness of the "Warmth of Winter" program, and subsequent programs like "Springtime on the Border - A Warm Tet for the People," and many other meaningful initiatives (such as "Springtime on the Border and Islands - A Tet of Warmth between Soldiers and Civilians," "Helping Children Go to School - Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts," etc.), the City Border Guard Command, the collective of units, and each border guard officer and soldier have made efforts and taken the initiative in connecting with and mobilizing resources, accompanying the people, and contributing to ensuring social welfare and building a stable and developing border region.

During this year's programs, the Hue City Border Guard Force mobilized and donated nearly 20,000 gifts, 17 houses, 2 youth projects including national flag-lined roads, bicycles, scholarships, etc., to people and students, totaling nearly 7 billion VND. In addition, border guard officers and soldiers contributed nearly 6,000 man-days to the construction of 13km of rural roads, 30km of irrigation canals, and 10.5 hectares of farmland; and donated 1,500 plant seedlings and 1,000 poultry breeds to help people in border areas develop production, improve their lives, and build trust and affection among the people.

Love knows no borders. In 2025, the Border Guard Command and its units mobilized support and donated more than 150 gifts, totaling nearly 405 million VND, to the people and border protection forces of Laos (including repairing and renovating houses for officers and soldiers of Border Guard Company 514 under the Salavan Provincial Military Command; and assisting people in Ta Lui village, Ka Lum district, Sekong province, Laos, who suffered damage from a fire). “Loving, helping, and supporting our friends strengthens the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and ensures the firm protection of our borders,” said Colonel Hoang Minh Hung, Commander of the City Border Guard.
