Northern Vietnam will experience continuous thunderstorms.

On the evening of May 28th, thunderstorms developed strongly in many northern provinces, western Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An. Hanoi also experienced thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds. Forecasts indicate that scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue in the North throughout the evening and night of May 28th, with localized heavy rain, with rainfall amounts of 15-30 mm, and over 80 mm in some areas.

Thanks to thunderstorms, the weather in Northern Vietnam on May 29th was quite cool, with the highest temperature only around 32-34 degrees Celsius and the lowest temperature between 23-26 degrees Celsius.

On the evening and night of May 29th, the northern region will continue to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized moderate to heavy rainfall, reaching 10-30 mm, and in some places over 80 mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

The forecast for May 30th indicates sunny weather with little rain in the North. From June 1st to 3rd, widespread heatwaves are possible in the midland and lowland areas. In the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam, the typical rainy season weather will persist in the coming days, with sunny days and scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night, with localized heavy rain. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Earlier, during the evening and night of May 27th, the northern mountainous region and Hanoi experienced a thunderstorm, with some stations recording heavy rainfall such as Xuan Lao ( Dien Bien ) 206 mm, Km22 (Son La) 83 mm; Ban Hang Doi (Phu Tho) 83 mm, Thanh Ha (Phu Tho) 78 mm.

Heavy rainfall combined with thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail has caused significant damage in Lao Cai province.

According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, heavy rain and thunderstorms injured one person; damaged the roofs of 57 houses, schools, and production workshops; destroyed over 3.36 hectares of rice and vegetable crops; and damaged a suspension bridge. The estimated damage is approximately 2 billion VND .
