Minions 3 releases its first trailer.

Following the global success of Despicable Me 4, Illumination returns with Minions 3, taking the Minions on a journey to conquer Hollywood, promising to shake up the box office this summer.

Following the global success of Despicable Me 4 in Summer 2024, Illumination continues to expand the Minions universe with a new project titled Minions & Monsters .

According to the first trailer just released, the film takes audiences back to the time before the Minions met Gru. Instead of searching for an evil "master" like before, this time the Minions harbor ambitions of making a movie. The story revolves around the hilarious and chaotic journey of the Minions as they try to conquer Hollywood, become stars, and then… quickly lose their popularity. To salvage their declining careers, they devise a daring plan: unleashing monsters to fuel their first movie project.

The two-minute trailer introduces three new Minions: James, Ed, and Henry, along with Gumi, an adorable Cthulhu summoned from the dead. Set to BLACKPINK's " How You Like That ," James is revealed to be the "leader" of the project, having just completed the monster movie script and hoping Gumi will help connect with the other monster "stars." However, before the plan can take shape, the Minions themselves must join forces to save the planet from a disaster of their own making.

The film is directed by Oscar-nominated Pierre Coffin, who was behind the first three installments of the Despicable Me franchise and the 2015 Minions film, and has also voiced the Minions since 2010. The screenplay was written by Brian Lynch and Pierre Coffin. The project is produced by Chris Meledandri and Bill Ryan.

After more than ten years, the Minions have become familiar animated characters to audiences worldwide. The Despicable Me and Minions franchises have grossed over $5.6 billion worldwide. As the third film in the Minions series and the seventh in the entire franchise, Minions & the Monsters is expected to open a new chapter for the Minions universe this summer.
