Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (Mitsubishi Motors) today (August 10) launched the all-new compact urban SUV - Xforce at the 30th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Motor Show. The new model will be produced at the Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha plant in Indonesia (Bekasi City, West Java) and will be introduced in the Indonesian market, other ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines as well as South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
The 5-seat compact SUV – Xforce – was developed based on the demand for compact SUVs in the ASEAN region, aiming for elegance, strength, and typical SUV character based on the idea of “The ideal companion for an active life”. Xforce not only provides spacious space with many convenient storage locations, but also aims for a safe and confident driving feeling in many different weather and traffic conditions.
Xforce is the new name for the XFC concept, less than 10 days after the Japanese automaker introduced the first exterior images on July 31. The concept will be first introduced to the world in October 2022 in Vietnam.
The Xforce design still retains the fresh, strong features of the concept version, while adjusting the fog lights and mirrors to match the actual vehicle.
In the interior, the 12.3-inch digital display combines with an 8-inch digital clock. The main screen is divided into 3 areas, while the cluster of 3 clocks displays coordinate information, oscillation in direction and direction - recreating the image on the famous Pajero model. The system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and supports the WebLink feature that allows control and sharing of the display from the phone screen to the entertainment screen.
The special thing about the interior is the melange fabric in the dashboard area and the highlight on the door panels. This is the first time this material has been used on a Mitsubishi car.
Throughout the cabin, there are up to 15 places to store water bottles, with a water cooler in the center armrest. There is a wireless charging pad in the center console, and power outlets for both rows of seats.
The rear seats on the Xforce are focused on segment-leading legroom. The seat backs can be reclined in 8 levels to choose the most comfortable seating positions, as well as optimize the rear luggage space. The rear seats can be folded in 40/20/40 sections.
The car is 4,390 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,660 mm high. Wheelbase 2,650 mm. Vehicle weight 1,245 mm.
XFC uses a 1.5 MIVEC engine, 4 cylinders, 16 valves, 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque, CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive. Four driving modes include normal, gravel, mud and for the first time there is a slippery road mode. MacPherson front suspension, torsion beam rear suspension (dependent).
The new SUV has a segment-leading ground clearance of 222 mm, combined with 18-inch tires. The Xforce has an approach angle of 21 degrees, a departure angle of 30.5 degrees, and a ramp-over angle of 20.5 degrees. The turning radius is 5.2 m.
The Xforce is expected to be equipped with advanced safety systems with features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation, automatic high beams, front vehicle start reminder, blind spot warning with lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert. Disc brakes both front and rear.
The car is expected to be produced at the Mitsubishi factory in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. Also in this country, Xforce is expected to be delivered to customers in November. In Vietnam, Mitsubishi's new SUV model can be displayed in December with an expected delivery date of early 2024, imported from Indonesia.
