During the visit and working session in Vietnam, on May 22, Mr. Lazare Eloundou, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, and his delegation conducted a field survey to learn about the management, conservation and promotion of World Cultural Heritage values ​​in Hue city.

According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Hue has 6 world heritages recognized by UNESCO (Hue Monument Complex, Vietnamese Royal Court Music, Woodblocks, Nguyen Dynasty Records, Royal Poetry and Literature on Royal Architecture, Documentary Heritage of Reliefs on Nine Bronze Urns in Hue Royal Palace). In addition, Hue also co-owns 2 other world heritages: Practice of Mother Goddess Worship and Art of Bai Choi Singing.

In recent times, the work of preserving and promoting heritage values ​​in Hue has always been focused on, demonstrated in many areas: Restoration of relics, preservation of intangible culture and documents, improvement of environmental landscapes, exhibition - museumization, international cooperation, human resource training, development of typical tourism products, application of conservation technology and digital transformation. Thanks to that, heritages are not only preserved in a systematic and scientific manner but also gradually become a driving force for sustainable development of the local socio-economy and urban cultural life.

To date, nearly 200 works and items belonging to the Hue Monuments System have been preserved, restored and renovated, with a total cost of over VND2,000 billion. This work always strictly complies with the regulations of the 1972 World Heritage Convention, UNESCO guidelines and the Law on Cultural Heritage of Vietnam, ensuring authenticity, integrity and adaptability to the harsh climate conditions of the Central region.

Since the establishment of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center in 1982, Hue has received support from 15 governments, 50 non-governmental organizations and more than 10 specialized international consulting organizations. Over 60 international cooperation programs and projects have been effectively implemented, contributing to improving heritage management capacity and expanding Hue's international influence in the field of heritage conservation.

The work of preserving, restoring and renovating Hue monuments always strictly complies with the regulations of the 1972 World Heritage Convention, UNESCO guidelines and the Law on Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.

The leader of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that the upcoming tasks of the Center will not only focus on the management, conservation, restoration and promotion of heritage values, but also focus on promoting the application of modern science and technology, digital transformation, digitization of relic restoration data, multimedia communication of Hue heritage images, development of cultural industry and heritage economy, supporting the harmony of community interests for sustainable development...

In particular, on this occasion, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center is studying and preparing a dossier to register the project to restore the An Dinh Palace in its entirety, requesting the French Ministry of Culture and UNESCO to consider and approve funding. The project will contribute to improving the efficiency of exploitation to serve tourists, the community, research and education activities, and at the same time add highlights to cultural and artistic events in the Hue Festival and international exchange programs./.
