BK FOODS High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative was established in 2021 and has 23 official members. With the desire to enhance the value of local agricultural products, the Cooperative has focused on producing yellow flower tea, some typical organic agricultural products and invested in product processing machinery. Up to now, the Cooperative has had 02 products of bamboo shoots and Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea achieving 3-star OCOP and 01 key product of yellow flower tea achieving 4-star OCOP at the provincial level.
Golden Camellia is a naturally occurring plant. Before the value of this plant was known, Mr. Dang Van Vinh’s family in Duong Phong Commune (Bach Thong) often cut it down. About 4 years ago, when the cooperative purchased it, his family kept it, cared for it, and expanded the area.
With technical support from the cooperative for care and product consumption, the average selling price is from 400,000 - 500,000 VND/kg of fresh flowers, helping families have additional income to cover their daily lives. Mr. Vinh shared: In his garden, there is a yellow camellia tree that is over 10 years old, the tree is tall so it produces a lot of flowers. When the flowers are in season, they can be picked every 3 - 4 days, purchased at the place without worrying about output, the economic value is much higher than many other crops.
The cooperative’s yellow flower tea has been on the market for nearly 5 years. Currently, the cooperative’s yellow flower tea growing area is 45 hectares, of which 15 hectares have been harvested, concentrated in the communes of Don Phong, Duong Phong (Bach Thong) and Binh Trung (Cho Don). To have quality products, the cooperative focuses on building organic raw material areas and investing in modern machinery.
Ms. Le Thi Huong, Director of BK FOODS High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative, said: The Cooperative has invested in the most advanced freeze-drying technology to preserve the gentle aroma, natural sweetness and medicinal value of the yellow flower tea. The yellow flower tea tree prefers humidity and shade, so the Cooperative encourages households to cooperate in planting under the canopy of large forests and along streams.
With the orientation of organic growing areas, the cooperative requires members to plant far from fruit growing areas, residential areas and use organic fertilizers to fertilize plants. The transition to organic farming processes not only meets strict criteria on food quality and safety, but also contributes to protecting the ecosystem and enhancing brand reliability.
Not only improving the quality of golden flower tea products, the Cooperative also focuses on investing in beautiful and eye-catching product designs and packaging to serve retail customers and create high-end gift sets. Thanks to that, the Cooperative's golden flower tea products have been present in many clean food stores, supermarkets and agricultural fairs in and outside the province.
In order to diversify products and increase the value of exploiting raw material areas to continue affirming the brand, the Cooperative is preparing conditions for beekeeping under the canopy of yellow camellia trees. According to some studies, yellow camellia honey has the effect of reducing blood fat, eliminating toxins in the body, increasing resistance, helping to sleep better...
Ms. Le Thi Huong, Director of BK FOODS High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative, shared: In December 2025, the Cooperative will conduct a trial of raising different types of bees in the yellow tea growing area. After the results are available, the quality will be evaluated and selected for expansion. This promises to be an attractive supplementary product with high economic value and will create additional points for the 5-star OCOP approval profile in the future.
Aiming for 5-star OCOP products, the necessary condition is to export products. However, this is a difficult task for the cooperative. Although many partners have come to learn and place orders, the cooperative does not have enough output to supply. The cooperative is also gradually expanding the area of yellow camellia cultivation, meeting the requirements of increasing output to serve export orders, but this takes time, because yellow camellia is a perennial plant, flowering after about 4 years of planting, but not much and depends on weather factors.
According to Ms. Huong, the Cooperative hopes that all levels and sectors in the province will pay attention to building geographical indications for the golden tea flower region, creating favorable conditions to support the Cooperative in evaluating organic growing areas.
From product development, expanding production scale, to technology investment, product diversification and targeting international markets, BK FOODS high-tech agricultural cooperative has been contributing to creating a sustainable value chain for farmers, gradually creating products that are competitive enough in the market. With determination and a clear strategy, the goal of achieving OCOP 5 at the national level will not be far away./.
