Expanding the North-South expressway, eastern section, La Son

On the morning of May 29, in Xuan Loc commune, Phu Loc district (Hue city), the Ministry of Construction coordinated with the People's Committee of Hue city and the People's Committee of Da Nang city to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the North-South expressway expansion project in the East, La Son - Hoa Lien section.

The North-South Expressway expansion project in the East, La Son - Hoa Lien section, has a total investment of about 3,010 billion VND, using state budget capital with a total length of about 65 km passing through Phu Loc district (Hue city) and Hoa Vang district (Da Nang city).

The project will follow the La Son - Hoa Lien route currently in operation, expanding the cross-section to 22m, ensuring a complete 4-lane scale, according to the standards of grade 60 and grade 80 highways, with an operating speed of 60-80km/h. The project is scheduled to be basically completed in 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that our country has put 2,268 km into operation, by the end of 2025 about 3,000 km will be put into operation and by the end of 2050 about 5,000 km will be put into operation.

The La Son - Hoa Lien expressway section will be expanded and gradually completed according to the planning, ensuring synchronization and modernity; improving exploitation capacity, minimizing traffic accidents to promote the role of the Eastern North - South expressway in connecting localities, ensuring security and defense in the region and the whole country.

Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh requested the People's Committees of Hue City and Da Nang City to continue to focus and resolutely organize the implementation of site clearance work. Pay attention to and concentrate on implementing resettlement work for people as soon as possible, ensuring security, order, and organizing convenient and safe traffic for people during the implementation process...

Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong said that this is a special project, connecting two centrally-run cities; passing through Bach Ma National Park, a strictly protected area. Therefore, Hue City requests that relevant agencies, contractors, and units have solutions for strict management and supervision to minimize environmental impacts, comply with regulations on nature protection and ecosystems for this area.

It is known that the La Son - Hoa Lien route is part of the La Son - Tuy Loan expressway project, which began construction in 2013 and basically completed phase 1 in 2019 and was put into operation in April 2022 with a total investment of VND 11,485 billion. This route will also contribute to significantly reducing the load on National Highway 1.
