The aspirations of the people of Guoc hamlet

Several sections of the road leading to Guoc hamlet (Tan Cuong commune) are currently in serious disrepair. This significantly impacts the lives of the residents, especially since one of the main roads connecting to Thinh Duc Primary and Secondary School is in a state of disrepair.

The concrete surface of the branch road connecting households in Guoc hamlet has completely peeled off.

After every rain, the main road in Guoc hamlet becomes riddled with potholes; some areas experience landslides, making travel very difficult. Many households living around the area have proactively bought materials to "patch" the potholes on the road and build brick embankments to prevent landslides, but after only one or two rainstorms, the situation returns to its original state.

Mr. La Thanh Hoan, Head of Guoc Hamlet, shared: "As one of the main routes with a high volume of traffic, the road currently serves the transportation of goods for 140 out of 168 households in the hamlet and hundreds of households in neighboring hamlets. In addition, parishioners of Kim Son parish also travel along this road to attend church services on weekends…"

In fact, this road was paved in 2002, but the concrete surface is very thin (5cm thick), narrow (only 2.5m wide), and lacks drainage ditches. Therefore, with the high volume of people and vehicles using the road, and the fact that it was paved many years ago, deterioration is inevitable.

According to Mr. La Thanh Hoan, the hamlet currently has over 1km of main road (consisting of 2 sections) and 600m of inter-household road that are in serious disrepair. This situation makes travel and transportation of goods for production and daily life very difficult for the people. In particular, students traveling along this road face significant danger because a small stream crossing the path has not yet been paved. During prolonged heavy rains, the stream rises very high, making travel impossible.

During the New Rural Development movement in the 2021-2025 period, the people of Guoc hamlet actively participated in matching activities to build rural infrastructure; boldly developed their family economies , and contributed to building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland.

Leveraging the advantages of tea cultivation (each household owning an average of 3 sao or more of tea plantations), the people have invested in producing safe tea; linking tea culture with the development of community tourism and ecotourism… to increase income and improve their lives. However, the implementation of this program in the 2026-2030 period has undergone many changes, requiring the criteria to be raised in terms of quality.

The main road connecting Guoc hamlet to other hamlets in Tan Cuong commune is now in a state of disrepair.

Meanwhile, the village's road system, besides some sections being dilapidated, mostly consists of narrow roads (only 2.5 to 3 meters wide). Mr. La Vinh Hien, a resident of the village, said: "I understand that for many years, the province has always had a mechanism to support cement and encourage people to contribute cash and construction materials to invest in building transportation infrastructure. Therefore, we very much hope that the State will create conditions and provide resources to help people quickly expand, pave, and upgrade the roads to match the appearance of the new rural area today."

Currently, all residents of Guoc hamlet share the same desire as Mr. Hien. The hamlet's committees, departments, and organizations are also committed to doing a good job of disseminating information and mobilizing residents to donate land and assets on the land during the expansion and upgrading of roads as soon as they receive the government's policy of providing additional resources.

Good news for the local people: in December, the project to renovate and construct nearly 1km of the main road connecting Guoc hamlet to Thinh Duc Primary and Secondary School is expected to begin. However, the hamlet still has several other road sections that need to be widened, renovated, and upgraded.

In the process of building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, the renovation, repair, and upgrading of transportation routes in hamlets and communes throughout the province in general, and in Guoc hamlet and Tan Cuong commune in particular, is an essential need for the people and local authorities. Therefore, the people and localities hope that the relevant authorities at all levels will soon establish a mechanism to support cement provision during the 2026-2030 period and quickly implement it.
