An island has just been recognized as the seabird sanctuary with the highest breeding density in Vietnam, with 4.88 eggs per square meter.

Specifically, information from Con Dao National Park said that, according to the record establishment HĐTV.VK.GXLKL No. 3217/KLVN/2024, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Record Organization have established the record "seabird sanctuary with the highest breeding density in Vietnam, an average of 4.88 eggs/m2" for Hon Trung, under the management of the Con Dao National Park Management Board.

This record once again proves the effectiveness of the conservation work and maintaining the ecosystem for flora and fauna over the years of the Con Dao National Park Management Board.

According to information on the website of Con Dao National Park ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau ), Hon Trung is a small rocky island offshore of Con Dao archipelago, Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. This island is located separately from the larger islands with rugged terrain.

Hon Trung is known as the largest bird sanctuary in Southeast Asia because it is home to more than 80 different bird species.

Of the 80 species of birds on the island, swallows are the most dominant. From a distance, the island is covered in bird droppings over time, giving it a white appearance that resembles an egg.

One part is a small rocky peak with vertical stone pillars, the other part is a fairly smooth rocky island, slightly tilted and covered with trees. The vegetation on Hon Trung Con Dao is mostly pineapple, noni and climbing plants.

According to Con Dao National Park, the Park Management Board currently organizes tours to explore Egg Island. Visitors can take a canoe around the island to admire the amazing beauty of this nature.
