From wartime to peacetime, regardless of his duties, Party member Nguyen Van Phung has always remained steadfast and grateful to the Party , following the example of Uncle Ho in his endeavors. Even now, despite his advanced age, whenever anyone talks to him about the Party or Uncle Ho, his face and eyes sparkle with joy.
We visited him at his home one May afternoon. Meeting the revolutionary journalists, Mr. Phung was overjoyed, as if reliving his working days. He recounted all sorts of stories, from his youthful battles and career paths to his current retirement, but the common thread running through his life was unwavering loyalty to the Party. It was evident that, despite his advanced age, this 75-year-old Party member still cherished his love for his homeland, his faith in the Party, and the unwavering belief in the ultimate victory of the revolutionary path.
His children are all Party members and work in various places; some have now reached retirement age. However, imbued with his philosophy, Mr. Phung's children and grandchildren understand that they must strive to improve themselves, study hard, and live up to the trust their father placed in them throughout his life.
In his modest home, Mr. Phung dedicates a space to display a picture of Uncle Ho – the beloved Father of the Nation. On the anniversary of Uncle Ho's death, his family usually prepares a feast to offer to the ancestors, so that the children and grandchildren can gather together. He also displays many photos of himself visiting Uncle Ho's mausoleum, along with commemorative photos of occasions when provincial leaders came to his house to present him with Party badges.
Comrade Nguyen Nam Quan, Secretary of the Long Dien Commune Party Committee, regularly visits, wishes Mr. Phung good health, and gives him gifts on every holiday and Tet (Lunar New Year).
Having dedicated his entire life to the revolution and endured the hardships of war, Mr. Phung stated that, more than anyone else, he deeply understands the value of peace, independence, and the life we have today. In particular, his love and respect for President Ho Chi Minh is evident throughout his living room, creating a solemn, warm, and heartfelt atmosphere filled with affection and faith in the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.
For Mr. Phung, it was not only a matter of respect but also a spiritual anchor throughout his life of revolutionary activity. Now advanced in age, his faith and love for the Party and President Ho Chi Minh remain unwavering. As we parted ways with him, we did not forget his words of advice: In revolutionary activities, regardless of the era, you must strive to live with integrity, love your homeland and country, preserve the revolutionary traditions of the nation, and always be grateful to the Party, to President Ho Chi Minh, and to the generations who sacrificed themselves to win independence, freedom, and a prosperous life for today and tomorrow.
