In the century-long symphony of the nation's revolutionary press, Thanh Hoa's journalism has contributed emotionally rich melodies. Loyal to its mission as "the secretary of the times," generations of journalists in Thanh Hoa have reflected, recorded, and preserved important events and information about the development of the country and their homeland.
Currently, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, Thanh Hoa's press is undergoing remarkable transformations, continuing to stand alongside all segments of the population and striving to contribute to the advancement of the homeland and the country in the new era.
Thanh Hoa Journalism - Historical Years
Prior to the August Revolution of 1945, alongside the emergence and continuous growth of Party organizations and revolutionary movements, the first revolutionary newspapers were published in Thanh Hoa province. Despite existing in secrecy and facing severe repression from the colonial-feudal regime, these articles, brimming with revolutionary fighting spirit, were maintained within Party bases, appeared in the war zones, and permeated daily life; igniting and fanning the flames of patriotism and the indomitable will to fight among all strata of the people. Publications such as "Forward" (1930), "Labor Soul" (1934), "The Ray of Light" (1936), "Freedom" (1940), "Driving Out the Foreign Invaders," "Girls Going to Battle" (1942), "Uprising" (1945)... raised powerful voices, exposing the crimes of colonialism and feudalism, becoming resounding calls to arms, urging all strata of the people to rise up and fight, contributing to the great victory of the August Revolution of 1945, winning independence and freedom for the nation.
During the years of resistance against the French and Americans, and the subsequent border wars, Thanh Hoa's press relentlessly spearheaded the propaganda front. Newspapers such as "Against the Enemy" (1946) and "Thanh Hoa News" (1955-1956) became sharp weapons, encouraging and igniting the spirit of the army and people throughout the province to advance and fight for the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland.
On September 26, 1956, during the critical period of the resistance war against the US, the first loudspeaker of Thanh Hoa radio station sounded, echoing across the banks of the Ma River, signaling the beginning of the broadcasting and television industry in Thanh Hoa province.
On March 20, 1962, Thanh Hoa Newspaper was launched, affirming: "We pledge to always be a pioneering soldier, standing shoulder to shoulder with our readers in the struggle for the cause of building socialism and peace , national reunification, making Thanh Hoa prosperous, beautiful, and constantly changing..."
With that guiding principle, even in the harsh conditions of war and countless shortages, journalists in Thanh Hoa remained passionate and courageous on the front lines of their writing. Hundreds of journalists bravely fought on the battlefield, and more than 30 journalists sacrificed their lives on the battlefields. With their fierce and urgent fighting spirit, Thanh Hoa's press became a leading force in propaganda, motivating and encouraging the army and people of Thanh Hoa to work hard in production, fight, and study, contributing to the Great Victory of Spring 1975, liberating the South and unifying the country.
Blood and flowers; tears and smiles; painful losses and glorious victories... In the Ho Chi Minh era, the tragic and heroic history of our homeland and country permeated every page of Thanh Hoa's revolutionary newspapers. And then, as those difficult years passed, together with the Party Committee, the government, and the people of the entire province, Thanh Hoa's press steadfastly entered a new era with new beliefs, hopes, and aspirations.
