MSB donates 8 classrooms and restrooms in Hue

On September 25, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB) coordinated with the authorities of A Luoi 4 commune and the local Department of Education and Training to organize the inauguration ceremony of the construction of student and teacher restrooms and the repair of classrooms at Dong Son Primary School, A Luoi 4 commune, Hue city.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hue City, Mr. Cao Manh Hung - Head of the Propaganda and Social Work Department of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, Mr. Ho Van Toi - Deputy Chief of Office of the People's Council - People's Committee of A Luoi 4 Commune, Ms. Le Thi Giang - Principal of Dong Son Primary School. On the MSB side, there were Ms. Nguyen Ha Thanh - Director of the Operation Division, Ms. Lai Thanh Mai - Deputy Director of the Legal Consulting and Compliance Division, Mr. Trinh Xuan Nam - Director of MSB Hue Branch.

With a total budget of more than 2.3 billion VND, 8 solid classrooms are expected to be upgraded, repaired and put into use after 6 months of implementation, ensuring adequate and safe facilities for effective teaching and learning. At the same time, the sanitation system that meets quality standards will also help students improve their understanding of school hygiene, thereby knowing how to take care of their own health, creating a foundation for a healthy generation.

Dong Son Primary School was established in 1996. After nearly 30 years of construction, the classroom system here has seriously degraded, the toilets are makeshift, inconvenient for students. In addition, the school is located in a mountainous border district of Thua Thien Hue province, the people's lives and local infrastructure are still difficult, and transportation is not convenient. The majority of people here are ethnic minorities, 85% of the population are poor households.

"As a pioneer bank pursuing a sustainable development strategy, in recent years, MSB has always accompanied the educational development of localities through sponsoring the construction of school and classroom facilities, helping students have the opportunity to develop their knowledge, strive to build a better life, thereby creating an equal and progressive society," said an MSB representative.

The bank's leaders also said that MSB believes that this new facility will help teachers and students of Dong Son Primary School have the best conditions for teaching and learning, while contributing to improving school hygiene conditions and enhancing the quality of the learning environment for students here.

In addition to accompanying the school in building and renovating facilities, at the inauguration ceremony of the construction of student and teacher restrooms and repairing classrooms at Dong Son Primary School, MSB awarded 30 scholarships with a total value of 30 million VND to students in difficult circumstances and 175 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to students of the school. This is an activity within the "Giving Happiness to Children" program series of M-Happy Club to spread the values ​​of happiness to MSB staff and the community.

Established in 2024, M-Happy has the mission of improving employee experience while spreading humanistic values ​​to the community. Aiming for the action of "Caring Life", MSB has received the joint contributions of more than 6,000 staff members for the program "Happiness for Children". This charity journey in 2024 has passed through 11 schools across the country, especially in mountainous provinces such as Lai Chau , Lao Cai or remote areas such as Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue... with hundreds of scholarships awarded, along with many facilities, equipment, school supplies... This sharing aims to motivate students, teachers and school staff to overcome difficulties, maintain faith to continue to complete well the tasks of studying, teaching and working.

In 2024, MSB held the inauguration ceremony and opened the new school year at Huy Giap Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Huy Giap Commune, Cao Bang Province), a project built with a 2 billion VND sponsorship from the bank; donated 4 classrooms and a water well system, and canvas umbrellas at Pung Bon school, belonging to Huu Khuong Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities with a total cost of 2.5 billion VND. This activity aims to create a safe, spacious, and effective learning environment for students to nurture their dreams of conquering letters, while contributing to promoting "reaching new heights" in education in the locality in particular and in Vietnam in general.

Not only focusing on business development, MSB also carries out many meaningful social security activities in many other fields to extend the humanitarian journey. Typically, in 2024, responding to the Prime Minister's call, MSB donated 10 billion VND to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households across the country; and donated 1 billion VND to support people affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi).

Previously, at the end of 2023, MSB supported the construction of 22 houses for poor and near-poor households in Bao Lam district. These acts, in addition to accompanying people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and gradually changing their lives as the nation's tradition of "helping each other", also demonstrate the bank's positivity and proactiveness with national target programs.
