ESPN reports that Cunha has played his last game of the season for Manchester United , even though the team still has three Premier League matches left.
To be precise, the club's leadership granted the 26-year-old star special permission to rest for the remaining three matches, after receiving a request from the Brazilian Football Confederation.

Cunha, after missing Manchester United's 2-1 win against Brentford due to injury, returned to Carrick's starting lineup and played a key role in the team's 3-2 victory over Liverpool last weekend.
However, Brazilian Football Confederation officials are not reassured, still concerned about Cunha's recent hip flexor injury. With the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, and the Samba team having lost a key player in Rodrygo (Real Madrid), coach Ancelotti does not want to risk other key players in the team.
The Brazilian Football Confederation contacted Manchester United for assistance, and the Premier League club's leadership agreed to allow Cunha to end the season early, recognizing that they had already achieved their most important goal in the campaign: securing a place in the 2026/27 Champions League.
According to the fixture list, MU's remaining three matches are: against Sunderland (away), Nottingham Forest (home), and Brighton (away, May 24).
At the 2026 World Cup, Brazil is in Group C, opening their match against Morocco, followed by matches against Haiti and Scotland.
With Manchester United's support, Cunha, in addition to being fully fit, will be in good physical condition to join the Brazilian national team in preparation for their ambitions at the world's biggest football tournament, which runs from June 11th to July 19th.
