MU stopped their interest in Jackson. |
According to The Athletic , Manchester United have decided to end their interest in Nicolas Jackson after Chelsea refused to sell the striker for a reasonable price. Instead, Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) and Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig) have become the two top targets in the plan to strengthen the "Red Devils" attack this summer.
After successfully recruiting Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, coach Ruben Amorim still wants to own a top-class center forward to complete the attacking system. Watkins and Sesko are being carefully evaluated by MU in terms of transfer fee, playing style and integration ability.
Aston Villa have said they will not sell Watkins, but United believe they can negotiate a deal if they offer the right fee. The Red Devils are not willing to pay Villa's £60m asking price, but are willing to offer between £40 and £45m. Although he is 29 years old and has little resale value, Watkins's extensive Premier League experience is still something that coach Amorim values highly.
Meanwhile, Sesko - who scored 13 goals in 33 Bundesliga games last season - is considered not impressive enough to be worth nearly £80m. However, the 22-year-old striker possesses great development potential and future resale value, something that has caused serious consideration within United.
The balance between an experienced striker like Watkins and a promising young talent like Sesko promises to shape MU's attack in the new season.
