MU wants to keep Casemiro on the condition that he accepts a pay cut. |
The 33-year-old's contract runs until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend for a further year. However, activating this clause would mean United continuing to pay a whopping £375,000 a week, as the board look to cut the wage bill.
According to the Daily Mail , MU is re-evaluating the future of players with less than 1 year left on their contracts, of which Casemiro is a notable case. The club asked him to take a significant pay cut if he wants to stay long-term. Coach Ruben Amorim still believes the former Real Madrid midfielder can contribute more after the summer of 2026.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed: "Casemiro's situation is very special. He is still a pillar in the dressing room and a real leader. However, there are currently no negotiations about a new contract. Casemiro has rejected attractive offers from Saudi Arabia, but the possibility of leaving next summer is real."
According to ESPN , many Brazilian and Saudi Pro League clubs are closely monitoring Casemiro's contract developments. If a new deal is not reached, he will be free to negotiate with teams outside England from January 2026.
Under coach Amorim, Casemiro has been a mainstay in the holding midfield position in the 3-4-3 formation. His experience and interception ability are considered the foundation that helps MU balance between defense and attack. Since joining MU, Casemiro has played 83 Premier League matches, scored 7 goals, won the League Cup and FA Cup.
