According to a preliminary report from the People's Committee of Long Phu Thuan commune ( Dong Thap province), at approximately 4:30 PM on the same day, a sudden thunderstorm occurred over a wide area, causing damage to many houses in Phu Hoa A, Phu Loi A, and Phu Loi B hamlets. The total estimated damage is approximately 937 million VND.
Of these, Phu Loi A hamlet suffered the most damage, with 36 houses affected, including 3 that completely collapsed, 27 that had their roofs completely blown off, and 6 that had about 50% of their roofs damaged. The estimated damage in this area is approximately 780 million VND.
In Phu Hoa A hamlet, thunderstorms damaged 9 houses, with 5 having their roofs completely blown off and 4 having their roofs partially damaged. In Phu Loi B hamlet, 2 houses were affected, including one with about 70% of its roof blown off and another with a collapsed kitchen wall.
According to the People's Committee of Long Phu Thuan commune, the thunderstorms did not cause any damage to agricultural production or livestock farming.
Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities mobilized police, military forces , and local organizations to assist residents in overcoming the consequences, reinforcing houses to ensure property safety and stabilize their lives.
Local authorities are currently continuing to assess and compile statistics on the extent of the damage in order to provide assistance to the people according to regulations.
