CANDIDATES SHOW HIGH EFFORT AND DETERMINATION

This is a crucial exam, marking a transition in the academic journey of many 9th-grade students throughout the province. Recognizing its importance, each student is making a concerted effort and demonstrating determination to develop a thorough study plan to perform well on the exam, aiming to achieve their goal of being admitted to their desired high schools.

Director of the Department of Education and Training, Le Quang Tri, visited and encouraged the candidates.

After months of preparation, on May 27, 2026, more than 43,400 candidates from the province took the exam at 76 testing centers throughout the province, carrying with them the high expectations of themselves, their families, schools, and society.

Candidates will take three non-specialized subjects: Literature (essay format), English, and Mathematics (multiple-choice format). Candidates applying to specialized high schools will take an additional specialized subject exam on May 28, 2026.

Despite the tense moments in the examination room, the candidates did their best, remaining calm and confident to complete the exams successfully within the allotted time.

Observations at examination centers throughout the province show that after the exams, most candidates left the rooms in a cheerful mood. According to the candidates and their teachers, the exam questions were appropriately challenging; the questions had a scientific structure and reflected innovative thinking in assessing students' abilities in line with current guidelines.

Dr. Le Quang Tri, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that analysis and evaluation of this year's exam showed that the exam was appropriate for students' abilities but still ensured high differentiation; excellent and very excellent students could achieve 9-10 points, good students could achieve 7-8 points, and average students could achieve 5-6 points.

After completing the three exams: Literature, English, and Mathematics, most candidates were in a cheerful and confident mood.

However, the exam also showed a relatively clear differentiation among candidates. Average candidates could score 5-6 points, and above-average candidates could score 7-8 points. Achieving a perfect score required candidates to study and prepare their knowledge thoroughly and meticulously.

Student Doan Ho Khanh Bang, class 9/16, Xuan Dieu Secondary School (My Tho ward), who took the exam at Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School, said: “I felt that the Literature exam had quite good materials, and the questions didn't focus on rote memorization, but mainly required applying knowledge and critical thinking to answer.”

In particular, the social commentary essay allowed me to express my personal opinion on the habit of procrastination.

Regarding the English and Math exams, the questions were manageable and not overly challenging; however, to achieve high scores, thorough preparation in terms of knowledge and critical thinking is necessary. I am confident of scoring 8 points or higher in each subject.”

Huynh Minh Quang, a student in class 9A7 at Cai Be Town Secondary School (Cai Be commune), who took the exam at Tien Giang Specialized High School (Trung An ward), said: “My dream is to get into the 10th grade specialized Chemistry class at Tien Giang Specialized High School, so I can have a better learning environment. Therefore, I tried my best in this exam.”

"Through the exam, I found the questions to be within my capabilities. However, the specialized subject exam also had some questions that required more critical thinking. I hope to achieve a high score to be admitted to Tien Giang Specialized High School."

Accompanying the candidates during the exam, many parents took the time to arrange their work schedules to bring their children to the exam site and sat outside waiting from the start of the exam until the end to encourage the candidates.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, residing in Cho Gao commune, who accompanied her child to the exam at the Tran Hung Dao High School exam center (Dao Thanh ward), said: “During the exam days, I knew my child was quite nervous, so I went along to support and encourage her, hoping she would do well on the exam to achieve her dream of entering the 10th grade at Tran Hung Dao High School.”

SAFETY EXAM CONCLUDED

Along with the efforts of the candidates, the Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) made thorough preparations for the exam well in advance. The GD&ĐT Department advised the province to establish the Provincial Steering Committee for High School Entrance Examinations for the 2026-2027 school year to implement the exam.

During the examination period, at all examination centers throughout the province, the Examination Board prepared and ensured the necessary facilities in the examination rooms, creating the best conditions for candidates to take the exam; invigilators strictly followed the examination regulations and procedures.

The candidates were delighted to have completed their exams.

Candidates took the exam seriously and strictly followed the exam regulations. Police officers were on duty to ensure security and order inside and outside the examination site; medical personnel were on standby to provide healthcare to candidates when needed. To support candidates during the exam, volunteer youth teams were on standby to provide water and necessary supplies for those who forgot to bring them.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Principal and Chairman of the Examination Board of Tan Hiep High School (Chau Thanh commune), said: “During the exam, candidates at the school's examination center took the test very seriously, strictly adhering to the examination regulations, with no absent candidates. The teachers in charge of invigilation demonstrated a high sense of responsibility in carrying out their duties, strictly adhering to the examination regulations, which helped ensure the exam was safe and successful.”

The grading process is expected to be completed by June 7, 2026; the results of the 10th grade entrance exams for public and specialized high schools are expected to be announced on July 16, 2026.

The enrollment process for 10th grade in the 2026-2027 school year will be completed before July 31, 2026.

At the Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School examination center, the exam took place safely and seriously, with no violations of the examination regulations by candidates or invigilators. Candidates arrived on time; a large number of parents waited outside the examination center to accompany the candidates.

Police officers were on duty to ensure security and order, manage traffic flow, and maintain order at the examination site.

Furthermore, to ensure the exam is conducted safely and seriously, throughout the examination period, leaders from the Department of Education and Training inspected the organization of the exam at several examination centers throughout the province.

During the inspection visits, leaders of the Department of Education and Training checked the examination organization process; the work of ensuring security and safety for the exam at the examination site; directly visited the examination rooms to encourage teachers on duty to strive to complete their assigned tasks; encouraged candidates to comply well with the examination regulations and inquired about the results of the candidates after the end of the exam.

Dr. Le Quang Tri, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: “The exam in the province was very successful, ensuring safety, seriousness, and adherence to the exam regulations. No cases of candidates or officials/teachers violating the exam regulations were recorded, despite the large number of candidates participating in the exam.”

The education sector is very pleased with this result. This achievement is thanks to the close leadership and guidance of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, along with the coordinated and close cooperation of departments, agencies, and localities.

Immediately after the exam, the Department of Education and Training organized a briefing on regulations and provided guidance on grading procedures for teachers to ensure that the grading process is fair, objective, and in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
