According to Al Jazeera, the landslide caused by heavy rain occurred near Vaishno Devi Temple, on the famous Hindu pilgrimage route in the Katra area, on the afternoon of August 26.
Police chief Paramvir Singh told Anadolu news agency that at least 30 people were confirmed dead in the disaster.

"Security forces, disaster relief teams and local volunteers have been mobilized to clear the debris and search for survivors," police chief Paramvir Singh said.
Pilgrimages to the Vaishno Devi Temple were halted following the disaster, DPA news agency reported.
Heavy rains also caused severe damage to infrastructure in the area, washing away bridges and roads and flooding homes.
Floods and landslides are common during India's June-September monsoon season, but experts say climate change is increasing their frequency and severity.
More than 1,200 people have died in floods, landslides and other rain-related incidents in India since June, according to officials, while at least 800 people have died in Pakistan since late June, DPA reported.
Earlier this month, heavy rains in the Himalayan region left dozens dead and 200 missing in Kishtwar in Indian-administered Kashmir.
