Prepaid baggage allows passengers to purchase additional checked baggage at least 3 hours before departure via Vietnam Airlines website/app or ticket office/agent. With prepaid baggage, passengers enjoy savings of up to 50% compared to purchasing at the airport (Excess Baggage).
When checking in at the airport, if the actual weight or size of the checked baggage exceeds the Free Checked Baggage Allowance and Prepaid Baggage Regulations, the passenger must purchase additional Excess Baggage at the airport for the excess baggage. Note:

Passengers can purchase up to 15 prepaid baggage pieces through the following methods:- Purchase prepaid baggage at Vietnam Airlines ticket offices and agents;
- During the process of purchasing tickets online on Vietnam Airlines website and application;
- After issuing the ticket, passengers can purchase prepaid baggage in the section "Manage booking" - "Buy additional services" - "Prepaid baggage".
Regulations on weight and size of prepaid baggage
Prepaid baggage must meet the following standard piece size and weight regulations:- Standard package has maximum weight not exceeding 23kg.
- The total maximum three-dimensional dimensions of a standard piece must not exceed 158cm.
- Prepaid baggage purchase applies to Vietnam Airlines tickets (738) operated by Vietnam Airlines or Pacific Airlines (except flights operated by ATR 72 aircraft).
- Passengers need to purchase prepaid baggage at least 3 hours before departure time.
- Prepaid baggage is valid for the flight and ticket purchased, and can be changed to a different flight date and itinerary at an equal or higher cost. This change must be made at least 3 hours before the new flight's departure time.
- Prepaid baggage is non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for other services or passenger tickets.
- Prepaid baggage is only eligible for refund if it is sold with a ticket departing from Korea and is completely unused. The refund fee is 25% of the value of the unused prepaid baggage.

When checking in at the airport, excess baggage charges apply in the following cases:- The actual number of pieces, weight and/or dimensions of the checked baggage exceed the Free Checked Baggage Allowance and the passenger has not purchased Prepaid Baggage, or
- If the actual number of pieces, weight or size of checked baggage exceeds the Free Checked Baggage Allowance and Prepaid Baggage Regulations, passengers may purchase additional Excess Baggage at the airport for the excess baggage.
