MU's surprise transfer target

MU is targeting Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso to strengthen their midfield this summer.

L'Equipe said the "Red Devils" have contacted Tolisso's representatives to start negotiations. The former Bayern Munich star has a contract with Lyon until 2027, but the club's difficult financial situation may force them to sell the player.

Atletico Madrid are also keeping an eye on Tolisso as they prepare for the possibility of Rodrigo De Paul joining Inter Miami.

Last season, Tolisso played prominently in a Lyon squad that was in poor form. MU highly appreciated the experience and leadership ability of the former Bayern star, seeing it as an important factor in rebuilding the midfield under the guidance of coach Ruben Amorim.

With Lyon needing to cut their wage bill, a transfer would be beneficial for all parties. Tolisso currently earns around €104,000 a week, which is among the highest in the team. Lyon want to keep Tolisso, but could be persuaded by a reasonable offer from United.

L'Equipe said Tolisso had initially planned to stay at Lyon, but he became interested in the move after interest from Manchester United. The French midfielder has also rejected offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Tolisso played 72 matches for Bayern in the 2017-2022 period, scoring 11 goals. In the 2024/25 season, this midfielder played 46 matches for Lyon, bringing home 10 goals.
