Ms. Luong Thi Duyen, Chairwoman of Muong Gion Commune People's Committee, informed: According to the assessment in 2024 (Muong Gion and old Pa Ma Pha Khinh), the average income per capita will reach over 45 million VND/person. Currently, the commune is reviewing and evaluating the potential and advantages of each region to have appropriate development orientations. Accordingly, the old Muong Gion commune area focuses on growing fruit trees, planting forests, and developing livestock farming; the old Pa Ma Pha Khinh area develops aquaculture, fishing, and livestock farming; and develops lake tourism .
Supporting people in economic development, the commune focuses on effectively integrating capital sources from national target programs to build suitable economic models; creating conditions for people to access preferential loans; vocational training for rural workers... Mobilizing people to change the structure of crops and livestock to increase value; promoting intensive investment, applying science and technology in production. Directing mass organizations to promote emulation movements such as "Good farmers in production and business", "Women helping each other to develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty", "Veterans helping each other to reduce poverty, do good business"... attracting a large number of members, union members and people to participate.
Currently, farmers in Muong Gion commune are focusing on planting and caring for 787 hectares of upland crops; 528 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds; nearly 400 hectares of cinnamon and macadamia trees; maintaining 200 fish cages; raising 79,600 livestock and poultry. The commune's poverty rate has decreased to over 6%; there are no more temporary or dilapidated houses.
In Mac Lieu village, people have converted crops and livestock to increase income. Mr. Tong Van Kien, Party Cell Secretary, Village Chief, informed: Based on the orientation of the commune, the village has mobilized people to convert ineffective corn and cassava areas to grow jackfruit, mango, pear trees; develop livestock farming in the direction of goods. Up to now, people have planted 40 hectares of fruit trees; protected and protected more than 400 hectares of forest; raised more than 300 buffaloes and cows. The village has only 6 poor households left. In addition, people in the village contributed materials and labor days to pour concrete for 200 meters of internal village roads; built domestic water works and irrigation works.
In addition, the commune has promoted and mobilized households to join together to establish 4 cooperatives on fruit trees and aquaculture. In particular, the commune has attracted Quynh Nhai Travel Joint Stock Company to invest and effectively exploit 2 tourist destinations on the Son La hydroelectric reservoir, including: Uy Phong Bay and Da Giang Island, welcoming 15,000 visitors each year to visit and experience, creating jobs and promoting service business in the area.
In 2018, Mr. Lu Van Quy, Pa Le village, linked up with 9 households in the village to establish Thuy Sinh Aquaculture Cooperative. Mr. Quy informed: Currently, the cooperative raises more than 80 cages for grass carp, common carp, catfish, tilapia... The main food sources are cassava leaves, banana leaves, and small natural fish, so the fish meat is fragrant and firm, the products are consumed by restaurants and traders inside and outside the commune. In addition to cage fish farming, members also participate in fishing; the average income of members is 4.5 million VND/month.
With economic development, from 2023 to present, people have actively participated in paying money, working days, donating land to build roads, repair irrigation works, cultural houses, schools, with a total cost of more than 2 billion VND. Up to now, the rate of hardened alley roads has reached 85.7%; 100% of villages have cultural houses...
To increase people's income, Muong Gion commune continues to promote economic restructuring associated with labor restructuring; mobilize households to link production according to value chains with enterprises and cooperatives to ensure product output. At the same time, mobilize and effectively use capital sources for infrastructure investment, completing the criteria for new rural construction.
