The Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises of Vietnam program organized by Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine aims to honor pioneering enterprises in the development strategy in harmony with the environment and society. In particular, the Carbon Footprint Reduction category is evaluated based on criteria such as pursuing a low-carbon strategy, using energy economically and renewablely. MWG's being named in this category is a testament to the continuous efforts in integrating ESG into the operating strategy, aiming for long-term sustainable development.
This is an annual program that selects all three business groups: FDI enterprises, listed enterprises and unlisted enterprises. The program's Evaluation Council includes leaders from HSBC Vietnam, PwC Vietnam, Schneider Electric Vietnam, Circular Economy Research and Development Institute, Talentnet Company, VinaCapital Fund Management Company and Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine.
Responding to the Government 's Net Zero 2050 target, MWG identifies ESG as an important guideline for the Group's development, while also playing a role in spreading responsibility to the community and stakeholders. MWG has set a specific action roadmap for the period 2024-2030, with many long-term commitments such as expanding clean energy projects, transforming technology and optimizing resource consumption.
In 2024, MWG proactively implemented many practical initiatives to minimize environmental impacts, while raising awareness among employees and partners throughout the value chain. By the end of the year, MWG had expanded its rooftop solar power system to cover 643 locations nationwide. The project has made an important contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Looking forward to 2025, MWG aims to expand this project to more locations.
Along with that, the Internet of Things (IoT) system continues to be expanded and applied in operational management at 1,736 stores, helping to improve energy efficiency and monitor consumption in real time. The project helps reduce emissions, increase efficiency, save electricity costs and contribute to environmental protection, in line with the group's ESG commitment.
MWG's journey to reduce its carbon footprint cannot be successful if it relies on individual efforts. MWG believes that change requires the cooperation of the entire ecosystem: from businesses - partners - customers to the community. Over the past year, MWG has actively cooperated to implement programs such as: collecting old batteries, old toothbrushes, plastic bottles at supermarkets nationwide; organizing tree planting and trash collection activities; and implementing sustainable loans with clear ESG commitments such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing plastic waste.
In addition, to strongly spread the message of sustainable development and affirm the integration of ESG into the operating strategy, in the past year, MWG has officially launched a separate ESG page, fully disclosing annual ESG data according to the company's sustainable development orientation, providing bilingual support and regular weekly/monthly updates on ESG activities. The transparent, complete and timely disclosure of information not only demonstrates a commitment to fairness and responsibility, but also helps domestic and foreign investors have a comprehensive view of both financial and non-financial aspects of MWG, thereby making more effective and sustainable investment decisions.
In addition to the award “Top 50 Outstanding Sustainable Development Enterprises in Vietnam”, in July 2025, MWG was announced by Forbes Vietnam in the Top 50 Best Listed Enterprises in 2025. Notably, MWG was in the Top 3 of the list, affirming its strong transformation and effective business strategy in the past year.
Being recognized by prestigious organizations is a great source of encouragement for MWG to continue to perfect its operating model according to higher standards - more transparent, modern and responsible. This is also an affirmation of MWG's commitment to contributing to Vietnam's Net Zero 2050 goal, gradually moving towards a sustainable future with the philosophy of "Putting sustainability at the center of every thought and action".
