In an interview with Punchbowl News on May 20, House Finance Committee Chairman Tom Cole, while not giving a precise prediction, indicated that August is the month when the US military is likely to run out of funding to continue the war with Iran if Congress does not quickly pass a new budget package.
"I am very concerned because we are running out of time to consider the supplemental funding bill for Iran," Punchbowl News quoted Cole as saying.

An additional financial aid package for Iran is currently in the early stages of debate in Congress, and it remains unclear exactly when US lawmakers will begin considering it.
This proposal reflects the White House's request for emergency funding that exceeds the Pentagon's budget to cover military costs related to the conflict with Iran.
Meanwhile, a report tracking the costs of the conflict with Iran shows that the Trump administration spent more than $87 billion in 82 days of military operation. This figure is nearly three times higher than the previous estimate of $29 billion, given by Jules Hurst, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management.
Some American media outlets have also reported that the cost Washington would in a war with Iran could reach nearly $40-50 billion if the cost of rebuilding US military facilities and replacing destroyed assets is included.
NBC, citing sources, further reported that runways, advanced radar systems, dozens of aircraft, warehouses, command centers, hangars, and US satellite communications infrastructure in the Persian Gulf were attacked by Iranian forces.
On February 28, the US and Israel began attacks on targets in Iran, killing more than 3,000 people. By April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire.
Subsequent talks in Islamabad ended without resolution, but there were no reports of a resumption of hostilities. However, the U.S. began blockading Iranian ports. The ceasefire was subsequently extended.
