The US is desperate for smartphones with 8000mAh batteries, while Vietnam has an excess.
The US market lacks phones with massive 8000mAh batteries due to legal barriers and weak competition, while Vietnam is flooded with options.

An interesting paradox is unfolding in the global smartphone market: users in the United States are having difficulty accessing phones with large batteries, which are very popular in Vietnam and Asia. While Vietnamese consumers can easily find 6000-10000mAh smartphones from Xiaomi, OnePlus, or Honor, this segment is almost completely absent from the US market.
A major reason stems from the market structure being dominated by the two giants, Apple and Samsung, which significantly limits competition and technological innovation.
In addition, US carriers often don't prioritize distributing devices that could threaten the position of the iPhone or Galaxy line, making it difficult for smaller companies to reach consumers.
Legal factors also play a significant role, as regulations for transporting batteries over 20Wh classify high-capacity devices as hazardous goods, leading to increased logistics costs. This forced manufacturers to reduce battery capacity to around 5000mAh to meet the standard, even though silicon-carbon battery technology has allowed for capacities up to 8000-10000mAh. Meanwhile, in markets like Vietnam and India, fierce competition is driving manufacturers to continuously launch products with large batteries and 80W-120W fast charging at accessible prices.
As a result, American consumers, despite being in a wealthy market, lack advanced technology options, while Vietnamese consumers benefit from the increasingly heated race for "super-sized" batteries.
