This information was released after Iranian media confirmed that Tehran and Washington are still exchanging draft amendments to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at reaching an agreement to end the conflict. This indicates that diplomatic channels are being maintained alongside military operations on the ground.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency, citing informed sources, reported that Iran will make its own amendments to the draft agreement currently being discussed with the United States.
This move comes after US media reported that Washington had adjusted some content in the draft text and sent it back to Tehran for review. Sources emphasized that the US revisions to the draft do not mean Iran has accepted the new terms, and affirmed that "nothing has been finalized" in the current negotiation process.
According to US sources, President Donald Trump has expressed concerns about some aspects of the draft bill, including the issue of releasing frozen Iranian assets. Washington is also reportedly seeking to impose stricter conditions regarding Tehran's nuclear materials.
The negotiations are taking place against the backdrop of both sides seeking to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to end the conflict that erupted in late February. Although a temporary ceasefire was established on April 8, both sides are continuing to exchange various options to reach a comprehensive agreement, with Pakistan acting as a mediator.
On the same day, French President Emmanuel Macron further increased diplomatic pressure by calling on the US and Iran to quickly reach an agreement, and demanding the full restoration of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.
On social media platform X, Macron stated that he had spoken with a number of regional leaders, including Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Omani Emir Haitham bin Tariq, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi. According to the French leader, the immediate priority is maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring the unconditional opening of the strategic shipping lane through the Strait of Hormuz – a shipping route that carries approximately 20% of the world's traded oil.
Macron also stated that France is ready to join a multinational initiative co-led by France and the UK to protect maritime security in the region. President Macron also warned that regional stability must begin in Lebanon and called on all parties to cease military actions.
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also confirmed a phone call with French President Macron, in which he emphasized that Cairo is conducting intensive diplomatic contacts with various stakeholders to support the achievement of a comprehensive agreement between the US and Iran. The Egyptian leader affirmed his country's position based on the principles of international law, respect for national sovereignty , and the right of each nation to control its resources.
