The list of traffic congestion "black spots" is part of the plan to coordinate the implementation of solutions to handle traffic congestion risk points in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023, which the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just issued.
Traffic congestion in Ho Chi Minh City is getting more and more serious.
Accordingly, the Department of Transport has recorded two congestion points that have had positive changes in recent times, namely the QL 50 - Nguyen Van Linh intersection (Binh Chanh district) and the Nguyen Oanh - Phan Van Tri intersection (Go Vap district). For the QL 50 - Nguyen Van Linh intersection, the Department will coordinate with Phu My Hung Development Company Limited to report on the plan to renovate this intersection to thoroughly resolve it. Similarly, the Nguyen Oanh - Phan Van Tri intersection will also be studied to renovate its geometric dimensions and possibly apply a plan to ban cars from turning left on time from Phan Van Tri street to Nguyen Oanh street.
There are 14 traffic black spots that have recorded positive changes but are still complicated. Among them are some "familiar congested" routes for city residents such as Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Huu Canh - Nguyen Binh Khiem area (District 1), Lang Cha Ca roundabout (Tan Binh District), My Thuy intersection, An Phu intersection (Thu Duc City), Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (District 7)...
Notably, the HCM City Department of Transport recorded 8 "black spots" of traffic congestion that have not changed, including: Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (from My Thuy roundabout to Cat Lai Port - Thu Duc City), Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (District 4), Cong Hoa - Hoang Hoa Tham intersection, Tran Quoc Hoan and Phan Thuc Duyen intersections, Truong Chinh Street (Tan Binh District) and 3 routes in Binh Thanh District including Dinh Bo Linh - Bach Dang intersection, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Bach Dang to Dai Liet Si intersection), Hang Xanh intersection.
In the recently issued plan, the Department of Transport aims to speed up the progress of key projects and monitor and update traffic conditions to reduce traffic congestion at the above 24 points, and this year eliminate at least one point in the Kenh Xang bridge area on Tran Van Giau Street, Binh Chanh District.
In addition to implementing large projects, non-structural solutions are focused on such as continuously monitoring and regulating traffic appropriately; increasing inspection and handling of violations on the road... The city will increase the application of technology in management to promptly resolve newly arising situations and overcome infrastructure shortcomings.
