In just a short period of time (from October 1 to 19, at the Phan Dang Luu - September 2 intersection, there were 2 serious traffic accidents, injuring many people and damaging many vehicles.

Specifically, on October 19, an accident between a car and an elderly man on a motorbike left the man seriously injured. Before that, at the same intersection, a series of accidents involving 5 vehicles occurred.

After many accidents occurred, many people believe that this is a “black spot” that requires caution when participating in traffic. According to the reporter, this is an intersection with high traffic density and frequent collisions, especially during rush hour.

Residents in the area said that in August and September alone, there were at least 5 accidents, collisions, and vehicle falls. In particular, in October 2025, there were 2 serious accidents that left many people seriously injured.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, owner of a restaurant at the intersection, said: “Every day I see people speeding and running red lights.” Meanwhile, according to Mr. Tran Van Hoang, who lives on Phan Dang Luu Street, if just one person crosses when the yellow light has just turned on, or tries to cross when the green light is almost off, the entire line of cars on the opposite side will be in chaos…

Therefore, it is completely incorrect to say that this is a traffic “black spot” due to infrastructure. Because it is not difficult to see that most of the accidents here originate from the awareness of traffic participants.

Many people run red lights, encroach on lanes, and make illegal U-turns, especially motorbikes and electric vehicles turning left at red lights. According to regulations, vehicles turning left must yield to vehicles going straight, but many people try to pass when the light turns green, causing traffic congestion.

Mr. Pham Minh, a technology car driver, said: “There were 4-5 seconds left on the red light and someone was already speeding across. Many cars even crossed the road when the light for the other direction was green, forcing many people who were driving legally to avoid them.”

Many people understand that “black spots” in traffic are simply congested roads or roads where accidents often occur. However, the poor traffic awareness of a part of the population is also considered a “black spot” that needs to be addressed to be eliminated.

People's awareness when participating in traffic is also an extremely important factor in reducing traffic accidents and improving safety coefficient when participating in traffic. Technical solutions are only the tip of the iceberg, the root is still people's awareness. If everyone stops at the right light, keeps a distance, and does not overtake recklessly, traffic accidents will be limited.

According to the City Traffic Safety Committee, in response to the above situation, the city's functional branches have handled the shortcomings, repainted road signs and lane division, and inspected the traffic signal system at the intersection to ensure safety in the coming time.
