Instead of typical resort vacations, more and more travelers are seeking authentic experiences that deeply connect with local culture and nature. Seasonal agritourism , with hands-on activities like harvesting produce, is the perfect answer, offering a memorable journey through Vietnam's fertile lands.

Moc Chau Plum Season: The Sweetness of the Highlands in May - June

When the first summer rains begin to fall, the Moc Chau plateau enters its plum ripening season. From the end of May to the end of June, valleys like Na Ka and Mu Nau are adorned with the reddish-purple hues of plump plums, covered in a silvery white bloom. This is the ideal time for tourists to immerse themselves in the working atmosphere of the local people.

Visitors will be provided with a bamboo basket, free to stroll through the vast orchards and personally select and pick the freshest plums. The sensation of savoring the tangy, subtly sweet taste of plums just picked from the branch is an unforgettable experience. Additionally, you can camp right in the orchard, enjoy plum-based products such as syrup and plum wine, and capture beautiful moments amidst nature. The entrance fee is usually per person, allowing for unlimited eating on-site; only the plums taken home are charged.

Ninh Thuan grape harvest: Experience the 'Mediterranean' in August - September

Known for its sunshine and wind, Ninh Thuan possesses ideal conditions for growing high-quality grapes. The main grape harvest season, lasting from August to September, transforms areas like Phan Rang - Thap Cham and Ninh Phuoc district into attractive destinations.

A distinctive feature of Ninh Thuan's vineyards is the arched trellises, creating shady pathways. Under the sunlight filtering through the leaves, the plump green and red grape clusters appear alluring, creating a scene reminiscent of Mediterranean vineyards. Here, visitors can not only take photos and pick fresh grapes themselves but also learn about grape cultivation from the owners. Don't forget to sample grape syrup, wine, and other local products right in the vineyard.

Golden season in the Northwest: Harvesting rice on terraced fields in September - October

When autumn arrives, the terraced rice fields in the Northwest highlands, such as Mu Cang Chai, Hoang Su Phi ( Ha Giang ), or Y Ty (Lao Cai), simultaneously turn a shimmering golden color. This is the most anticipated moment of the year, attracting numerous tourists and photographers to admire the majestic beauty of the "golden season".

Experiencing the harvest season in Northwest Vietnam is not just about sightseeing. Visitors can venture into the villages, chat with the H'Mong, Dao, and Thai ethnic groups to learn more about their unique rice-farming culture. If you have the chance, ask permission to try your hand at harvesting the ripe rice stalks with a sickle, feel the aroma of straw, and better understand the value of rice. This is an activity that deeply connects you with the culture and people of the region.

Strawberry picking in Da Lat: Sweetness during the cool months of January to March.

In the early months of the year, from January to March, when the weather in Da Lat is cool, it is also the time when the strawberry season enters its most vibrant phase. Strawberry farms become a must-visit destination for tourists.

Currently, many strawberry farms in Da Lat have adopted high-tech models, growing strawberries on hydroponic systems in greenhouses. This method not only keeps the strawberries clean and free of soil but also makes harvesting easier for visitors. You will be given a box and scissors to freely choose ripe, glossy red strawberries. Many farms also serve attractive dishes and drinks made from fresh strawberries such as smoothies, ice cream, and cakes, providing a complete culinary experience.

Mekong Delta's orchards: A fruit-season excursion from June to August.

From June to August, the provinces of the Southwestern Mekong Delta enter their peak fruit season, transforming the region into a giant "fruit basket." This is a wonderful opportunity for tourists to immerse themselves in the riverine landscape and enjoy countless varieties of tropical fruits.

A unique aspect of tourism in the Mekong Delta is the experience of riding in a traditional sampan boat, navigating through small canals lined with fruit-laden orchards. Visitors can pick their own bright red rambutans, deep purple mangosteens, or enjoy durian right in the orchard. Many orchards even offer a "fruit buffet" with a fixed price, allowing you to eat as much as you like. The generosity of the local people and the abundance of nature will surely leave a lasting impression.
