Improving the quality of explanations at craft villages and heritage sites in the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark area

On May 5-6, the Management Board of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark organized a survey and field practice program on explaining traditional occupations and heritage sites of the Geopark on the eastern tourist route "Experiencing indigenous culture in the fairyland" of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.

At the program, members conducted field surveys and practiced skills in explaining, guiding, welcoming and handling situations at heritage sites on the eastern tourist route of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in Quang Hoa and Trung Khanh districts: Ma Phuc Pass, Mat Than Mountain, Phja Thap incense village, Dia Tren paper village, Pac Rang blacksmith village, Lung Ri tile village and Khuoi Ky stone village...

The content of the explanation focuses on the historical, cultural and geological values of each heritage site; the production process of traditional handicraft products: paper, Phja Thap incense, forged products, etc.; at the same time, introducing local culinary experiences, folk arts, trekking activities, community accommodation (homestay)... During the practice, the members promoted the spirit of initiative, actively shared experiences, and contributed ideas to perfect the content and explanation methods in an attractive, coherent and professional way. Thereby, helping visitors understand more deeply about local life and culture, contributing to increasing the value of local tourism products.

The field program is part of a series of training and capacity building activities for partners and local communities to gradually professionalize tourism services in the Geopark area. Through the program, people and tourist reception staff are updated with knowledge and supplemented with in-depth information about heritage sites; at the same time, they have the opportunity to experience reality, share experiences, practice guiding skills and handle situations during the process of explaining and welcoming tourists.

Focusing on improving interpretation skills and the quality of reception at heritage sites is one of the core factors contributing to preserving and spreading heritage values, improving the quality of tourism services. This is the foundation for developing a sustainable community tourism model, imbued with local identity; thereby gradually building Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark into an attractive and friendly destination for domestic and international tourists.
