Enhance the value of traditional tea products

Products of Su Anh Agricultural Production Service Cooperative are known by many customers inside and outside the province.

Su Anh Agricultural Production Service Cooperative was established in 2017. Currently, the raw tea area of the Cooperative and its association with more than 100 households is over 60 hectares. Of which, 25 hectares have been recognized as meeting VietGAP standards. Previously, the Cooperative produced 3 to 5 tons of dry tea products each year. In 2021, with support of 200 million VND from the industrial promotion fund, the Cooperative boldly invested in gas tea roasting machines and vacuum machines. Thanks to that, productivity has increased to 7 to 10 tons of finished products/year; the annual revenue from fresh tea bud production and tea processing of the Cooperative reached over 5 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Su, Director of the Cooperative, said that during the process of developing OCOP products, the Cooperative was consulted by the Industrial Promotion Center on policies to support investment in expanding production. The application of new machinery in production has helped improve the quality of the Cooperative's finished tea products, doubling the output compared to previous years when machinery had not been used in production; the quality of the finished tea products is more uniform and retains its delicious flavor. Support from the industrial promotion source has encouraged the Cooperative to develop and find a foothold in the market. The Cooperative currently creates stable jobs for over 20 workers, with an average income of 5 million VND/person/month and hundreds of seasonal workers.

Among the main products of the Cooperative include: Phu Lam green tea, Phu Lam green tea buds, Phu Lam green tea, Ngoc Thuy green tea buds, Ngoc Thuy green tea, Ngoc Thuy green tea (frozen), Bat Tien tea, the Cooperative has 3 products that have achieved 3-star rating: Phu Lam green tea buds, Phu Lam green tea buds, Phu Lam green tea and 4 products that have achieved 4-star rating: Ngoc Thuy green tea buds, Ngoc Thuy green tea buds, Ngoc Thuy green tea, Ngoc Thuy green tea (frozen).

From the support for industrial promotion, Su Anh Agricultural Production Service Cooperative invested in a gas-powered tea roasting machine to help improve the quality of finished products.

In 2021, Ngoc Thuy green tea product (frozen) won the second prize in the Tuyen Quang Province Technical Innovation Contest and was selected to compete in the 2021 National Technical Innovation Contest. In 2022, Ngoc Thuy green tea buds were certified as a typical rural agricultural product of the province. Last May, Ngoc Thuy green tea product of Su Anh Cooperative was one of 5 products of Tuyen Quang province recognized as a typical rural industrial product of the Northern region in 2024.

Not only supporting investment capital to expand production lines, every year, the Cooperative is connected by the Center for Industrial Promotion to promote trade, participate in displaying, introducing, and promoting products at trade fairs and exhibitions; sign cooperation agreements, and expand product consumption markets to stores and supermarkets nationwide.

At the same time, cooperate with digital transformation units to advise and support units to bring products to e-commerce platforms: Postmart, Voso, Vietconnect and social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo... Mr. Nguyen Cong Su, Director of the Cooperative, said that the application on digital platforms has helped the Cooperative reduce many intermediary steps in distributing goods, saving costs for the unit. Along with that, it helps the Cooperative protect and enhance the reputation of the product, affirming the position and brand value. Monthly revenue from e-commerce channels accounts for about 30% of the Cooperative's sales revenue.

The implementation of local industrial promotion has motivated tea production and processing units in general in the province and Su Anh Agricultural Production Service Cooperative to be more confident and bold in investing in production and business activities. Thereby, improving the competitiveness of products, increasing income and creating stable jobs for the local labor force.
