Improving teaching and management capacity of Khmer language in primary schools

On August 21, the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province opened a training course to improve the capacity of managers and teachers on innovation in teaching, testing, evaluation and management of Khmer language teaching for grade 2 in general education institutions across the province.

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Mr. Vo Van Quoi - Deputy Head of the General Education Department, Department of Education and Training of An Giang province, affirmed: Improving the quality of Khmer language teaching at primary level is identified as a key task, not only stopping at imparting language knowledge, but also aiming to help students form language skills early, communicate confidently, and meet the requirements of equality in learning and living.

Khmer Language is an elective subject in the system of subjects, focusing on developing Khmer language proficiency through 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This is both a responsibility and an opportunity for the teaching staff to contribute to building a generation of dynamic, creative primary school students, ready to integrate and preserve the national cultural identity.

During the two days of August 21 and 22, delegates attending the training will be introduced by the reporter and given general instructions on the Khmer language teaching program for grade 2 according to Circular 34/2020/TT-BGDDT; instructions on teaching methods, testing, evaluation and management of Khmer language teaching program for grade 2 in primary schools.

At the same time, students are equipped with methods and techniques for teaching Khmer language, promoting students' positivity and initiative; skills in developing and applying appropriate, objective and effective forms of testing and evaluation.

Through training and fostering, the team of managers and teachers will accumulate knowledge and skills in managing and organizing teaching for ethnic minority students in accordance with the actual conditions of the school and class in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning to meet the 2018 General Education Program.
