Improving quality management in assisted reproduction

(Chinhphu.vn) – Assisted reproductive techniques are important in helping infertile couples have children, bringing happiness to many families. However, to achieve the best results, many experts emphasize maintaining and improving quality management in assisted reproduction.

Quality management is key

At the scientific seminar on "Improving quality management in reproductive support" organized by the Central Obstetrics Hospital on October 14, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Director of the Central Obstetrics Hospital, said that Vietnam currently has more than 70 centers nationwide implementing reproductive support techniques, of which only 8-9 centers are recognized to meet international standards. Among these centers, there are 2 public hospitals that meet regional and international quality standards, including the Central Obstetrics Hospital.

Currently, Vietnam has adequate infrastructure, modern equipment and a team of good experts in the field of reproductive support. The Central Obstetrics Hospital plays the role of a leading specialized hospital, responsible for supporting and improving the quality of other centers across the country. In particular, training, improving expertise and maintaining the quality of the team of experts are among the key factors to achieve good results.

However, to improve the quality of reproductive support, experts in the field of obstetrics and gynecology emphasize that management is extremely important, from embryo, egg, sperm management, all must have digital tracking technology .

In particular, when it comes to the achievements of assisted reproduction, we must talk about the success rate of conception and the success rate in difficult cases.

"Using the same in vitro fertilization technique, some people have easy success, while others have very little success, and even fail many times. This requires good quality human resources, investment in equipment, and a good management system," Professor Nguyen Duy Anh affirmed.

Sharing about the importance of patient experience, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hoang, Tam Anh General Hospital, Hanoi , in vitro fertilization (IVF) is a high-tech technique in the field of assisted reproduction. IVF is a long, arduous and difficult process, bringing many different emotions to patients and affecting treatment results. Therefore, patient experience is an important issue that needs to be addressed to improve the quality of treatment.

"Personalization in IVF is very important, helping patients feel listened to and respected, actively participating in treatment decisions can give patients a sense of initiative," Dr. Hoang shared.

To improve patient experience, Associate Professor Le Hoang said that reproductive support centers need to measure patient experience to help understand how patients feel in order to provide direction and solutions.

Early establishment of quality management standards

At the workshop, experts also emphasized that the application of digital technology and international quality management processes is a key solution to improve the efficiency of reproductive support services. At the same time, they suggested that Vietnam soon develop quality management standards.

According to Dr. Dinh Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Mothers and Children, Ministry of Health, hospitals and experts need to join forces, based on international platforms such as RTAC, ISO to build and develop processes into standards that are both advanced and suitable to Vietnamese standards, for example, adding conditions that are lacking internationally such as facilities and Vietnam's own laws in the field of reproductive support.

While there is no Vietnamese quality management system, the international RTAC certificate is a system implemented by many countries, and is a valuable international standard to ensure the quality of a reproductive support unit.

This standard requires health care facilities to continuously improve their quality to maintain certification to this standard.

At the 25th anniversary celebration, the National Center for Reproductive Support, Central Obstetrics Hospital was honored to receive this international certification after a rigorous selection process. Achieving this certification not only marks an important milestone in the development journey, but also opens up opportunities for cooperation, research and deep integration with the global IVF community.
