Delegates from various countries enjoyed visiting Bat Trang pottery village.
Here, the delegation was introduced to the development history of the craft village, and admired the exquisite ceramic products displayed in the center of the craft village - a place where the quintessence of Vietnamese handicrafts over many centuries converge.
Delegates enthusiastically participated in the program “I am an artist”, directly molding pottery, drawing patterns and creating products with their own personal stamp. Not only stopping at hands-on experience, the group also explored the art of ceramic sculpture through the ages, admiring unique contemporary ceramic works that demonstrate the intersection between tradition and creativity.
Mr. Muhamad Abdul Azias, representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Malaysia and Ms. Paveena (Thailand) were delighted with the products they made themselves.
Sharing her feelings after the visit, Ms. Paveena - a delegate from Thailand said: "I was really surprised and delighted with the traditional beauty here. Making a ceramic product with my own hands made me feel more clearly the ingenuity and sophistication of the Vietnamese people."
Muhamad Abdul Azias, representative of the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports, said: “Vietnamese ceramic art is truly unique. I have seen pictures online, but only when I saw it with my own eyes did I fully appreciate the cultural depth and the sophistication of every detail.”
Delegates from various countries were excited about the visit and learning about Vietnamese culture.
The tour provided international delegates with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s cultural heritage, the creativity and hospitality of Bat Trang people. This was not only an exciting experience but also contributed to strengthening friendship, solidarity and spreading cultural values among ASEAN member countries.
From the skillful hands of the craftsmen to the friendly smiles of the owners, Bat Trang has brought to international friends an image of Vietnam that is close, creative and rich in identity - just like the spirit of cultural connection that SOMS-16 aims for.
