According to the report of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), in the first 6 months of 2025, there were 1,710 fires nationwide, killing 42 people and injuring 48 people. Compared to the same period in the first 6 months of 2024, the number of fires decreased by 24.67%; the number of deaths decreased by 25%. Fires are mainly concentrated in urban areas, some localities with rapid economic growth and urbanization, many production and business establishments. The main cause of fires is due to electrical equipment system failures accounting for 74.6%, due to negligence and carelessness in the use of fire and heat sources accounting for 18.5%...

This shows that fire prevention awareness reflects each person's awareness of the importance of preventing and responding to fire and explosion incidents. When each individual has good fire prevention awareness, they will proactively comply with safety regulations, promptly detect and handle fire and explosion risks, and be ready to respond when an incident occurs. On the contrary, people easily ignore potential risks, do not comply with safety regulations, or do not know how to handle a fire.

Mr. Le Van Tam - a family with a house and grocery business in Long Xuyen ward said: "Through the house fires reported on newspapers and radio, my family clearly realized the need to raise awareness of fire prevention and fighting to protect our own lives and property". Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Minh Trung, a resident of Cho Moi commune said: "A large fire or explosion will be very difficult to extinguish, and it is easy to lose everything: house, property, even the lives of myself and my family. I regularly check the electrical lines and electrical equipment I am using. If I detect any signs of damage, I will repair or replace them immediately to ensure safety".

In addition to raising awareness, people need to strictly manage fire and heat sources, and turn off devices that are at risk of causing fire or explosion before leaving the house; equip fire prevention and fighting equipment with guaranteed quality and clear origin. Ms. Tran Thi Anh Thu - owner of a clothing store in Chau Phu commune said: "I sell clothes, fires are very common, so electrical wires and sockets are carefully wrapped, regularly checked periodically, before leaving I turn off all power sources; do not cook in the store". Apartments, boarding houses, hotels... for rent need to comply with fire prevention and fighting regulations according to the law; ensure proper implementation of construction permits, regularly self-check, and propagate to raise tenant awareness. Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - hotel owner in Chau Doc ward said: "We are fully equipped with fire prevention equipment, ensuring timely handling if a fire occurs because fire is very dangerous for room renters, causing great losses for business people like us. Therefore, the hotel always strictly complies with the provisions of the law on fire prevention".

The consequences of fire and explosion cause material damage, and even human lives. Fire prevention and fighting is not only the task and responsibility of the authorities but also the common task of every citizen. People need to raise awareness of fire prevention and fighting; strictly comply with the provisions of the law on fire prevention and fighting; proactively learn and update knowledge and skills on fire prevention and safe escape... to protect themselves and their families, thereby promoting the building of a mass movement to ensure security, order and fire safety at the grassroots level, contributing to building a safe living environment.
