On the afternoon of May 11th, the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) provided information on the risk of forest fires during the week (from May 11th to May 16th). According to the agency's warning, the risk of forest fires remains very high in the Central, Central Highlands, and Southeast regions due to prolonged hot weather.
In the North Central region, the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh , and Quang Tri are at risk of forest fires at level V, the highest risk level. This is a key area with a high risk of fire due to intense heat combined with the hot, dry winds from Laos.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions are at risk of forest fires at levels IV to V. The peak time for forest fires is from 10 AM to 5 PM daily, especially in pine forests, dry melaleuca forests, and dipterocarp forests. In the Northwest region, the risk of forest fires is at level IV.
Authorities advise people to absolutely refrain from using fire in and around forests, and to avoid burning fields during hot weather. Localities in the aforementioned areas need to increase patrols, organize 24/7 forest fire prevention and control teams, monitor fire locations via satellite data, and maintain the "four on-the-spot" principle for timely response.
