According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the coconut yield of Vinh Long province is relatively stable and has increased slightly over the years, from 10.98 tons/ha in 2020 (equivalent to 9,150 fruits/ha) to 11.95 tons in 2025 (equivalent to 9,960 fruits/ha).
The growth rate of coconut productivity in the period 2020-2025 is 1.71%/year and is about 1.1 times higher than the average coconut productivity of the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. Depending on the coconut variety, the productivity may vary: tall coconut varieties (industrial processing) yield from 8,200-9,500 fruits/ha; dwarf coconut varieties (drinking coconut) yield from 18,000-20,000 fruits/ha; wax coconut about 2,350 fruits/ha.
The province's coconut output in 2025 is estimated at 1,316 thousand tons (equivalent to 1,096.80 million fruits, of which: 360 million drinking coconuts, 733.6 million industrial coconuts, 3.2 million wax coconuts), an increase of 243.15 tons compared to 2020. The growth rate of coconut output in the period 2020-2025 is 4.17%/year.
In the coming time, the agricultural sector will continue to promote and provide training on technical processes for cultivation, intensive farming, and coconut care, especially the use of standard varieties, timely harvesting to ensure water and coconut meat quality, the use of microbial fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers, and biological pest and disease control; pay attention to the application of post-harvest technology to improve product quality to meet the requirements of the domestic and export markets. Focus on developing circular models in line with the development orientation of the coconut industry.
