Mr. Nguyen The Canh and his wife, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Vi, maintain the habit of reading books every day.

For grandparents, this is not only a habit, a way to train the elderly's memory, but also a way for grandparents to set an example for their children and grandchildren about the importance of reading and self-study, thereby building a reading culture in the family.

Mr. Nguyen The Canh was born in 1944, originally from Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province. He and his wife have four daughters. Raising their children to study during a time when the country's economy was still difficult was not easy. However, the couple determined that investing in their children's education was the top priority. Thanks to that, all four of their children graduated from university, had stable jobs in state agencies and were all Party members. This spirit of learning was passed on to their grandchildren.

At the age of over 80, Mr. Canh and his wife now live together with their children and grandchildren; becoming a spiritual support and exemplary role model for their children and grandchildren to follow. Every day, in addition to watching the news, they maintain the habit of reading newspapers, Communist Magazines and various books.

Mr. Canh shared: “Regular reading helps to train memory and at the same time grasp the current political situation of the country. It is also a way for us to educate our children in the family to study on their own and maintain a reading culture.”

Mr. Canh admitted that for his grandchildren, using phones and social networks is more attractive than reading paper books. However, his grandparents still persevere in building a reading culture in the family, contributing to "pulling" the grandchildren away from electronic devices.

As a Party member, he always studies Party documents and directives; contributes ideas to build resolutions of the neighborhood Party cell and actively participates in movements launched by the locality. For many years, his family has been recognized by the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa Ward as a Learning Family.
