Newcastle are desperate to add a striker before the summer transfer window closes next week, amid uncertainty over Alexander Isak's future.

Regardless of whether Isak leaves St James' Park or not, manager Eddie Howe is keen to add another goalscorer following Callum Wilson's departure earlier in the summer.

In the latest move, Wolves rejected a £50 million offer for Strand Larsen. The Molineux team has no intention of selling the Norwegian player.

Last season, when playing for Wolves on loan from Celta Vigo, Strand Larsen integrated well, scoring 14 goals in the Premier League, so the "wolves" decided to activate the buyout clause.

Newcastle will return with a higher second offer for Strand Larsen but Wolves do not want to lose him, as it is difficult to find a replacement at the end of the summer transfer window.

In another development, although Yoane Wissa made every move to "strike" to move to Newcastle, Brentford remained firm, determined to keep the 28-year-old striker.

Wissa is hopeful a deal can be reached between the parties in the coming days, but Newcastle will have to raise their asking price for the Congolese striker to £50m, as Brentford are demanding.

At the most confusing moment, Newcastle's leadership received an invitation to recruit Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus. The "Old Lady" wanted to liquidate so offered a reasonable fee of 26 million pounds.

However, the "Magpies" are not interested because they are concerned about the form and adaptation of the Serbian striker. In addition, Vlahovic is also receiving a sky-high salary of 10.4 million pounds/year in Turin.
