According to reputable sources in Germany and England, Newcastle have reached an agreement to recruit Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade for 75 million euros with an additional fee of 5 million euros. This is considered a huge number for this little-known player.
Nick Woltemade burst onto the scene last season with 17 goals in 33 appearances for Stuttgart. A year earlier, Woltemade had scored just two goals in 30 appearances for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. He was even loaned out to Germany's third tier for the 2022/23 season.
Bayern Munich approached Nick Woltemade earlier in the summer but quickly pulled out due to Stuttgart's asking price. In fact, the 23-year-old striker is not Newcastle's top target either. In recent times, the "Magpies" have repeatedly failed to recruit Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Sesko. They have also struggled to sign Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen, while key striker Alexander Isak has gone on strike to demand a move to Liverpool.
With the 2025 summer transfer window about to close, Newcastle have decided to “bet” on Nick Woltemade. The €80 million price tag will help Woltemade surpass Isak himself to become the most expensive contract in the history of the Magpies.
Nick Woltemade stands out with his height of 1m98 but possesses a skillful playing style. He tends to play wide and is considered to have many similarities with Isak. By spending a lot of money to buy Woltemade, Newcastle will likely pave the way for Isak to move to Liverpool. Previously, Newcastle rejected Liverpool's offer of 130 million euros for the Swedish striker.
