Isak, 25, has become the target of many big clubs. |
Speaking to the press, coach Howe shared: “My wish is for Alexander Isak to stay. He is an important part of the team, and I hope Isak will continue to contribute. However, that (Isak's future) is not something I can control, because there are many external factors that influence it.”
According to The Guardian , coach Howe tried to convince Isak to stay at the club next season but failed. That led to Newcastle United deciding to remove Isak from the list of 30 players participating in the tour in Asia.
The Magpies' management announced that the player was absent due to injury. However, shortly after, the British media reported that Isak wanted to leave Newcastle and asked not to participate in the tour.
Howe is struggling ahead of the 2025/26 season, with Newcastle yet to sign any notable new signings, while rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are spending hundreds of millions of pounds. Isak's desire to leave is not too surprising, as the Magpies have yet to honour a contract extension with a higher salary (currently £120,000/week). The situation at Newcastle is showing signs of instability.
According to The Athletic , the club has not appointed a new sporting director following the departure of Dan Ashworth, while chief executive Darren Eales has temporarily stepped down due to health reasons.
