According to the RIA news agency on March 26, the Russian military has taken full control of the workshops of the Artemovsk Metalworking Plant (AZOM) in the city of Bakhmut. This is also the place where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited in December 2022. Currently, the entire factory is under the control of gunmen from the Wagner private military company (PMC).
According to the soldiers who attacked the factory, there were several bomb shelters in the workshops in AZOM where soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) could take refuge from artillery and air strikes.
In addition, fierce fighting is also taking place in the central market area, as well as on Bazarnaya and Nezalezhnosti streets, just 500 meters from the city administration building.
In another development, the Spanish newspaper El País reported on March 25 that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke remotely while attending the European Union (EU) summit in Brussels.
