The Russian military website said that the attack by the country's army on the night of January 13 on targets in Ukraine was considered the most effective in the past few months.

This time there were fewer missiles fired than in some previous attacks, but the effect was that a large number got past Ukraine's air defense system.

It is known that Kiev's air defenses cannot simultaneously counter Moscow's high-precision weapons coming from several directions.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) admitted this defeat and this is unusual.

One of the targets hit by Russian missiles was the Impulse factory, which produces detonators, TNT and detonating cords in the city of Shostka in Sumy province.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (VS RF) attacked facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex producing 155, 152 and 125 mm artillery shells, gunpowder and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

“The attack objective has been achieved. All designated targets have been hit,” the statement said.

* On the same day, on ZDF television channel, German military expert Christian Molling said that VSU no longer had reserve troops for offensive operations, so it was forced to switch to defense.

“Of course, Ukraine currently has no forces to launch any offensive. This is also due to the terrain, ammunition supply and level of military training … They have no choice but to stay on the defensive,” Molling noted.

He also stressed that the ammunition situation was so difficult that the VSU could barely repel attacks by the Russian army, while Moscow did not face similar problems because it had established its own weapons production.

Meanwhile, the New York Times said that Kiev's prospects were bleak as the VSU suffered heavy losses and Western arms supplies were exhausted.

The Times noted that the West could no longer guarantee the provision of military aid to Ukraine at the same level as in 2023, and Kiev's counteroffensive ended without achieving any goals.

“Commanders were forced to limit their use of ammunition, because any new Western aid could be the last,” the New York Times wrote.

* Previously, on January 12, Ukrainian Army Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Kiev needs more military aircraft to counter Russia, such as US A-10 Warthog attack aircraft to support infantry and aircraft that can fire long-range cruise missiles.

"I would talk about the A-10 as an option if the aircraft were provided to us. This is not a new weapon, but it is very reliable for supporting the infantry," said Colonel General Syrskyi.

The A-10 is a veteran attack aircraft and is loved by many US Air Force pilots for its ground support and close combat missions. It can destroy tanks and armored vehicles thanks to its powerful weapons capabilities.

The cockpit and flight control system of the A-10 Warthog are protected by 13-38mm thick titanium armor weighing 540kg that can withstand 23mm artillery shells.
