Russia carried out a diversionary tactic and massively entered Dnipropetrovsk.

A remarkable tactical deception recently took place on the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield. Just when the Ukrainian army (AFU) was still deploying its main forces to the “Pokrovsk magnet”, Russia suddenly launched an attack on the Southern Donetsk front, taking the AFU completely by surprise. The latest war situation shows that the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) have made a rapid breakthrough in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions of central Ukraine, advancing 5 km in just 24 hours. This rapid advance has surprised military observers, but also exposed weaknesses in Ukraine's defense system; at the same time, it signals a possible turning point in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
In this battle, the RFAF perfectly executed the ancient tactic: distract to the east, attack to the west. Initially, they deployed massively towards Donetsk, using heavy artillery fire and rotating armored units to distract the AFU. Meanwhile, the actual assault force was quietly gathering on the southern Donetsk front. Using advanced unmanned reconnaissance and electronic jamming technology, the RFAF precisely avoided the heavily defended areas of Ukraine and launched a surprise attack on the thinly defended plains. The AFU's intelligence system had clearly suffered a serious failure. Judging by the slow response of the command and the delay in the arrival of reinforcements, they had completely failed to anticipate a Russian attack from this direction. One European military expert compared the AFU to a passenger clinging to the platform, unaware that the train had been diverted. According to the War Unit Observer channel, the RFAF made a surprise move, withdrawing four mechanized infantry brigades from the Pokrovsk front, to concentrate its forces on drilling and breaking through the Dnipropetrovsk area. It seems that the RFAF General Staff discovered an extremely favorable direction of attack, when the Ukrainian army was drawn to the Pokrovsk front.
Facing the “fragile” defense line of the AFU in the east of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the RFAF General Staff spotted an opportunity to deliver a decisive blow, sending forces to intensify the attack on this area, Kiev sources quoted Ukrainian military analysts as saying. Specifically, the 35th, 55th, 74th and 137th Motorized Infantry Brigades of the RFAF Group Center, were reportedly secretly withdrawn from the Pokrovsk front, to be redeployed simultaneously near the Novopavlivka stronghold. These units were previously stationed south of Pokrovsk, but are now under the command of Group Vostok. This means that the Ukrainian counter-offensive to save Pokrovsk has completely failed and the Russian army is clearing the area. Meanwhile, their three combined armies are advancing rapidly westward, pushing deep into the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions. This shift in offensive direction has great strategic significance. Dnipropetrovsk is an important logistics center of Ukraine, responsible for the key task of transporting supplies, fuel and ammunition to the front line; at the same time, it is the “industrial heart” of Ukraine. The Russian military offensive on this key position has effectively strangled the Ukrainian army's supply lines. In addition, Dnipropetrovsk province is also a symbolic area of Kiev, as this is President Zelensky's hometown.
Readovka reported that the Vostok RFAF continues to successfully exert pressure on the administrative border between the Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, approaching the enemy's fortified defense line. In particular, the RFAF is breaking through the first defense line of the AFU in the east of Dnipropetrovsk, bordering Donetsk Oblast. Earlier, the RFAF had broken through to the village of Gavrilovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This idyllic village was the first line of defense in the eastern part of Dnipropetrovsk province. It may not be long before the Russians break through the AFU line, which fell exactly a year ago after the Ugledar stronghold in the south of Donetsk province. Russian military analyst Boris Rozhin believes that since the defeat at Ugledar, the AFU has been unable to re-establish its position in the southern Donetsk region and now in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region. "The RFAF has been constantly attacking here, and in fact the main lines of defense of the AFU have been breached. And now, of course, they are forced to rely on less prepared positions," Rozhin explained.
However, in the long run, this tactical victory may not translate into a strategic advantage for the RFAF. While Russia temporarily holds the initiative, the AFU is also adjusting its tactics, potentially shifting to more flexible guerrilla warfare and attrition warfare.
