BYD has officially launched the upgraded version of the Seal 05 sedan in the Chinese market. This model is the upgraded version of the BYD Seal 5 that will be launched in the Vietnamese market this month. The highlight of the BYD Seal 05 2026 is that the battery range has been increased from 55 km to 128 km. The total distance the car can travel after filling the tank and fully charging the battery has also increased to 2,000 km.
The "heart" of the BYD Seal 05 2026 is still the 5th generation DM-i plug-in hybrid powertrain, including a 1.5L, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a front-mounted electric motor. The petrol engine delivers a maximum power of 99 horsepower and a maximum torque of 126 Nm. The corresponding figures for the electric motor are 161 horsepower and 210 Nm. Thanks to that, this model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. In addition, the BYD Seal 05 2026 is also equipped with a Blade battery with a capacity of 15.87 kWh. The average fuel consumption of this Chinese car according to NEDC standards is 3.08 liters/100 km. Except for the operating range, the BYD Seal 05 2026 has not changed much in terms of exterior and interior design. The car continues to apply the "Ocean Aesthetics" design language. The vehicle's length x width x height remains the same at 4,780 x 1,837 x 1,515 mm. In addition, the wheelbase is 2,718 mm and the minimum turning radius is 5.5 m.
Stepping inside this C-class sedan, Chinese customers will encounter equipment such as a 3-spoke, beveled-bottom steering wheel, an 8.8-inch digital dashboard and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen using the BYD DiLink system. The previous car's crystal gear lever has been replaced by an electronic gear lever located behind the steering wheel, helping to increase space for the center console area. Other notable features of the BYD Seal 05 2026 include manually adjustable front seats, a 6-speaker sound system, remote vehicle control via phone, 6 airbags, a 508-liter luggage compartment and cruise control.
In the new version, BYD Seal 05 2026 still keeps the starting price at 79,800 Yuan (about 279 million VND), cheaper than A-class cars in Vietnam such as Kia Morning, Hyundai Grand i10 and Toyota Wigo. In August 2025, BYD sold 13,495 Seal 05s, bringing the cumulative sales in the first 8 months of 2025 to 49,821 vehicles, accounting for 2.49% of the company's total sales.
