The Sun reported that the accident occurred when the intercity bus crashed into a container truck, which had stopped after a tire exploded on the highway in an area about 90 km west of Gaziantep, Turkey.
Video footage from the scene shows the front right side of the bus completely destroyed. Police, ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scene to carry out emergency rescue work.
The horrific collision left at least seven people dead and 11 others injured. Citing information from the Governor's Office, state-run Anadolu news agency said all the dead and injured were on the bus.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the accident. The truck driver, who survived the incident, has been detained. Police have temporarily closed the road.
According to preliminary reports, the passenger bus swerved into the oncoming lane during the rain.
Meanwhile, a serious bus accident occurred in India last week. The bus carrying about 28 passengers lost control and fell into a gorge near the Kunjapuri–Hindolakhal road in the Narendranagar area, a popular route in northern India.
