Chatchawarn Ruksa started his career with landscape paintings. He experimented with many genres such as still life and portraiture, but eventually found his passion and devoted himself to painting cats, capturing their everyday moments in watercolor.
In Chatchawarn's paintings, cats appear lively and delicate. Every tilt of the head, clear gaze, sitting posture or gentle step is captured by him in a realistic and expressive way.
It seems that artists and cats are very compatible, and their friendship has existed for a long time. They like cats that turn their heads to look at them and follow their every step. They also like cats that look cold and proud - Photo: FBNV
"My watercolor work started with landscapes, I also painted many portraits and still lifes, but only paintings of animals or cats really satisfied me.
I got used to painting cats using the wet-on-wet method, using the transparency and randomness of watercolors to create depth in the fur, then meticulously perfecting the expression on the cat's face. Painting cats has become my life's work.
I want to bring their agility, sensitivity, cuteness and peace to more people. These lively little creatures deserve much more attention" - Chatchawarn Ruksa shared.
What makes Chatchawarn's work special are the stories behind it. The cats in his paintings were once strays, abandoned in the middle of the city.
According to Min News, someone once said that cats' eyes and movements express emotions very similar to humans, allowing people to read the thoughts and moods they want to convey - Photo: FBNV
To date, Chatchawarn has organized more than 40 art exhibitions in Bangkok and many other locations, not only to display art, but also to raise funds and establish the Street Cat Charity Fund, contributing to the care and protection of stray cats.
Thanks to his care and love, those cats not only found a home, but also became the main characters in his paintings, traveling with him across Thailand, carrying the message of love to spread all over the world .

When people think about the relationship between cats and themselves, cats become a kind of invisible bridge. Through different words, stories and colors, each individual feels the meaning of connection. According to Chatchawarn, this connection is something that is increasingly rare in modern society, and is also the message that he always wants to convey through his works - Photo: FBNV

If drawing landscapes is to feel the breath of life, then drawing cats is a way to convey and spread that warmth in a soft, gentle way - Photo: FBNV
The temperature of life is not necessarily hot or cold, nor is it the length of time. As long as we can feel the connection in our souls, a simple watercolor cat painting can become a masterpiece containing warmth - Photo: FBNV
